Re: Dirt sheet geek BS...why post it?

People like to think they know the inner workings of a secretive business. Dirtsheets are just opinion pieces. I don't believe anything with "WWE officials" or "backstage" in it. It's all hope and guessing. It's like a fortune teller. They give general advice and people connect it to their personal lives. Dirtsheets give general ideas and fans connect it to their opinions.

This can be accurate. As much as I laugh at meltzer articles and completely ignore them, I don't care if someone wants to believe it.

At the same time, when people are using rumors as argument points, that gets really fustrating. Most of the people discussing wrestling on this Wrestling forum I have to discredit and ignore because they fall back on "but the plans for xyz are this because meltzer said so". There's also the people who briefly comment "fuck wwe [based on this potential dirtsheet]". Like in my sig. That was a dude blowing his brains out over a rumor.

Re: Dirt sheet geek BS...why post it?

No one is painting Triple H as the villain except the stupid idiots that like to jump to the most negative conclusions when they have no idea what the fuck is actually going on. None of us know. But you have keyboard warriors who think that they are so correct because they posted a critique post on the internet. We don't know why Triple H reportedly shot Harper down. Maybe he was frustrated that Vince was making him do his dirty work? Maybe he had a bad day? Maybe Harper was being a dick about it? Maybe he just needed to take a walk?

We don't know shit. If Metzer or any other dirt sheet happens to be right, it is usually in a general sense. But rarely the details are ever actually known to the general public.

Wrong. they never predicted this . They only pretended to know the reason AFTER it happened. All opinion. Both were talking about who her opponent was going to be for the title at WM , even the night before she lost against Charlotte.

and trust me I dont know which hack works for what, because I don't have the time to waste my high functioning brain on rumor and innuendo.

I know this thread is mostly people not arguing in good faith, but that specific video was in response to Dave reporting that Savage had hurt his arm before that WCW PPV & they centered an entire segment around "ragsheets," claiming that Macho Man was fine.

Savage proceeded to work that same PPV with a heavily taped-up elbow & was very clearly wrestling injured.

Also, there's a reason why people listen to Meltzer & read the Observer. Between the long tenure he's had covering professional wrestling, the relationships he's built up with people in the business (one of whom being fucking Steve Austin) & the amount of news he's reported that was proven to be right (like Becky main eventing WM being the plan back in November), it's safe to say that his reputation as a credible source for wrestling is pretty well-earned.

Meltzer has been giving and leaking info a very long time before it became the cool thing during the Monday Night War Era really kicked off(Jon Petrie really made a name for himself armchair quarterbacking Nitro and RAW).

He goes way back predicting things like Hogan vs Andre rematch being on NBC. He may be wrong just like anyone else, but he has built himself as a credible source more than not due to his longevity and links.
