Backstage Update on Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes and Dean Ambrose’s WWE Contracts

Quote:
Back in March, we reported here on eWn that Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes would be leaving WWE. As many of you may remember, Rhodes took to Twitter and said those rumors were false and he was still under contract with WWE. He tweeted,

For what it’s worth, he was still under contract with WWE at the time but was planning to leave the company all along once his contract expired and that has since happened. There is no 90-day “no-compete” clause since his contract expired and he wasn’t fired or released from the company. The same goes for Dean Ambrose or any others whose contracts expire.

this is why i hate smarks too

Most workrate wrestlers are not interesting. Japanese wrestling is boring and lacks personality. Promo ability over wrestling any day.

Fact.

Wouldn't the no-compete clause still be part of their contract as it's not a general law but part of their original agreement?

Once your contract expires you are free to sign anywhere. If the 90 day clause blocks them and they're getting paid by wwe during it, they're still operating under the terms of their original agreement ie contract.

the 90 day "rule" only applies if you´re released before the contract runs out.

So could WWE have been petty and released him 1 day before it expired, kicking in the 90 day clause and causing him to miss Double or Nothing? Or do you have to have at least 90 days left on your original contract for that to work?

Re: Backstage Update on Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes and Dean Ambrose’s WWE Contracts

I can't stand wrestlers who talk down to wrestling fans like this

"this is exactly why i hate smarks!". What does that even mean? They were right, moron.

What an idiot. Nobody even gives 2 shits about Goldust in 2019. If a story broke that you're leaving, embrace it, deny it, ignore it...do whatever you want. But don't throw out a needless insult at fans for no reason. Do these idiots not realize that fans are the reason why they earn a salary?

So many wrestlers seem to rejoice at talking down to fans and i can't for the life of me comprehend why. I doubt you'd see an actor of Game of Thrones go on an interview and say "suck it fans you were wrong you suck".
