CM Punk Reflects on Triple Threat with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero

Quote:
Yesterday, Rey Mysterio took to Instagram to reflect on a triple threat match that he had on the independent scene with CM Punk and Eddie Guerrero.

This match took place just before Eddie Guerrero returned to WWE in 2002 and Rey Mysterio made his debut with the company in that same year.

In the comment section, CM Punk also took some time to reflect and Express gratitude towards the two veterans or helping him along at such an early point in his career:

“People should know how good Eddie really was. He was in a rough spot. Recently fired, home front was turbulent. He came to this show and looked tired. Said to me “I hate three ways. If it’s okay with you, can you and Rey put something together and just call it to me?” I wasn’t sure that was possible. He didn’t miss a beat. And you Rey, so open and giving to a little punk Indy kid. You laid out a masterpiece and I wasn’t sure I could keep up. One of the early times I remember being in the ring and thinking to myself, “this is fucking MAGIC!” A pleasure. An honor. I miss Eddie, truly fortunate to have worked him as many times as I did. I feel the same about you Rey! Legends, who treated me like an equal, and I’ve never forgotten it. Viva la raza!”

Re: CM Punk Reflects on Triple Threat with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero

This was one of the first indie matches I ever watched when I found YouTube and google video This, COD 5, Joe/Kobashi, and Red/Ki.

It holds a special place in my heart, and was a major reason I started looking for more stuff like it, and in doing so I found XWT, and the rest was history.

I know Punker divides wrestling fans like no one else, but I'll always be a fan and be forever thankful for finding him.

Yeah, this was amazing, made me a fan of Punk. I also loved what him a Rey did in WWE and I'm no Mysterio fan. CM Punk singing Happy Birthday to Reys kid remains one of my favorite moments in his career.

Three legends without a doubt and I'm definitely rewatching this later. It seems like Punk is missing wrestling a bit and its nice to see him talking about it, one of my favorites of all time.

Punk seems like he might give wrestling another go, at least on a scaled back schedule. Hopefully he doesn't cave in back to the WWE and opts for appearing in AEW instead.

Mah dude always talks like he hates wrestling and doesn't even want to hear it mentioned, but I know for sure the guy still has some love for it.

I remember Punk in 2006 used to be the most passionate guy about this business, like you could see it on is face and the way in he interacted with the fans
and in his performance, he was a kid that loved his job, something like that doesn't die so easily, even though WWE did a great job trying to kill it.

I've never done wrestling before so it blows my mind that someone could be so good that they could just walk into a match knowing nothing about it and just call everything on the spot and make it look that good

Eddie Guerrero was fucking stupidly good at wrestling. He grew up with it due to his family and he knocked everything he did out of the park.

I wish he was still with us.

Re: CM Punk Reflects on Triple Threat with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero

Punk has always had a lot of love/respect for Eddie (and Rey) for helping him out during this time. He's even called Eddie the "GOAT" in his opinion.

Then there's this as well.
