How would you fix the WWE to help with better booking?

If you look at the current product of the WWE. You have

Raw
Smackdown
205 Live
NXT
NXT UK

I honestly think that the WWE needs to take their very large roster of women wrestlers and turn the Women's Revolution into it's own brand. So now it looks like this:

Raw
Smackdown
205 Live
Women's Revolution
NXT
NXT UK

Two hour show where you have dedicated writers for women's wrestling. You have two women's titles, and the tag team titles. I think that it;s about time to give them their own show. Maybe with a smaller ring as well. Almost like the NXT Ring. Maybe use the NXT sized crowd.

The women can still make appearances on raw and Smackdown. But their show is the Women's revolution. They will also have their own PPVs which gives wrestling fans more content to the WWE Network.

my suggestion would be to get rid of some of the titles and limit the number of PPV's.

Re: How would you fix the WWE to help with better booking?

NXT is great, so we leave it alone. NXT UK (albeit, I haven't seen much) seems to be in an okay place too.

So we bring back this man... KIDDING

I think it's time to limit the shows a bit, as well as cut down the amount of writers and such - as the combination of too many writers and ideas make things become a lot more complicated. But I believe more stories are needed, as well as better character development.

But back to the show, three hours for RAW is way too much. Of course, that won't change, though. I tried to get into the show, and whilst I've liked some of the matches and parts, 205 Live just seems like a show waiting to die. I'd probably either cut it, move the CW division to SD or NXT, or move it to a smaller capacity like NXT. Maybe cutting Vince outta the way would help too, as well as Kevin Dunn - but that is also not for happening.

Of course - listening to the audience too.

Re: How would you fix the WWE to help with better booking?

Speaking as a UK subscriber to the Network and someone without a Sky Sports package, I can't actually watch RAW or SmackDown when they're live. We have to wait 3-4 weeks for them to be updated onto the Network because of a contractual cock-up between WWE and Sky Sports. In those 3-4 weeks of waiting, I can just watch a chopped-up 20 minute highlight video of both shows on YouTube. Not the way I really want to support WWE and their programming, but hey, if I'm giving you a tenner a month and you're not giving me your main two shows for nearly a month, what am I supposed to do?

That said, I believe there's such a thing as too much of a good thing, meaning that having RAW, SmackDown, 205 Live, NXT, NXT UK and the OP's proposed idea of a totally separate show just for women would be just as bad as that 7-hour Mania farse we had.

If you segregate women to their own show I can almost guarantee that even the most die hard WWE fan wouldn't watch it - more to that point, you really can't call it a revolution if you start off by segregating it completely. The women need to be featured just as much as the men on the main shows to gain any credibility.

Honestly, I'd change it up by not having the same shit matches on RAW every week. I remember back in like 2009-2011 when people complained about seeing Orton/Cena feud almost constantly, but is that any different to now?

General layout for a RAW now is:
  • In-ring opening segment on mic
  • Somebody interrupts and a match is made for later that night
  • Crowd hyper match like Bálor, Zayn, Matt, Jeff etc. against Crews, Corbin, Roode etc.
  • 4th commercial
  • Riot Squad against three randomly chosen women
  • 7th commercial
  • flashback to a pay-per-view or show 3 weeks ago
  • Corbin getting booed out the arena
  • 8th commercial
  • Elias doing much less than he should be doing
  • Impromptu title match, probably tag
  • Alexa Bliss comes out to say something and remind us she's still here
  • Sasha and Bayley looking miserable
  • 10th commercial
  • 3rd quarter in-ring promo or teaser
  • Main event that was booked at the start of the show

And to be honest, even if I could watch RAW when it's live on the Network or Sky Sports, I don't think I'd bother to watch 3 hours of the same thing every week. The highlights on YouTube are more suited to the kind of fan/viewer I am now.

This is just how I feel in regards to it but I'd say have both RAW and SmackDown run for 2 hours. Straight to the point, high octane action that makes us believe that these two shows truly are the best that sports entertainment/wrestling has to offer - stuff like G1, NXT and a lot of UK companies are shitting on WWE's flagship shows by doing nothing but wrestling matches.

Waaaaaay less titles. At this point everybody has a title and it doesn't help that a solid 60-70% of them are the same design with a different coloured strap.

Important one here: a fucking reason to tune in the week after. As much as I can appreciate that times have changed almost entirely down to the fact that WWE's talent pool is hella bloated, I really don't want to see the same shit every week. More bizarre stories that are entertaining.

Remember that episode of SmackDown where Edge had Kane running around the entire arena looking for Paul Bearer who was tied to a wheelchair? Hilarious. Torrie and Dawn feuding because her aunt was sleeping with her soon to be deceased Dad? legendary.

I think WWE takes itself way too seriously but without much reason to be doing so.

Re: How would you fix the WWE to help with better booking?

Everybody wants less titles, and that seems nice on the outside, but less titles also means less guys getting "pushed" via a championship.

I don't necessarily agree with that. For me, it's 3 main things.

#1 - eliminate Gimmick PPV's, OR make all the matches follow that stipulation. For example, if you are going to run an event called Hell in a Cell, make every single match be competed in the cell. I hate seeing an event called TLC where you have a normal match for the first 2 hours of the show. I do agree with everyone else that there are way too many PPV's, but if they are going to keep the number the same at least make it matter.

#2 - Make every match follow some type of storyline, or make it mean something. I feel like way too often we get random matches, and zero storyline building. This is definitely laziness on creatives part, and we need faster moving nightly feuds.

#3, and most importantly - The show needs to move at a faster pace. I've been watching old RAWs and it stands out to me how quickly things happen (guys interrupting, overlapping storylines, cutting from segment to segment). It just feels like on RAW now you can watch for 20 minutes without anything productive in the show happening.

I know there are probably 1000 things WWE can change but these 3 really stick out to me

They need less content so
A) things can be special again. We don't need a PPV every 4 seconds.
B) They can focus on writing 2-3 great shows instead of 139232 dog shit ones.

They should also cut down the roster. Even with the media machine WWE has become, you can't make 83 people a star at the same time. Especially when the writing and booking is as weak as it has ever been.

I would stop with the brock lesnar Champion runs and put more time into pushing the newer stars for the WWE

don't you think that less titles would create stiffer competition though? i get your point that there would be less "pushes" to the top via the title but i feel it would make it more cut-throat w/ a bunch of guys going after 1 championship title. would probably even create more angles/story lines if done properly and would add to the glory of winning the belt.

i feel w/ the multiple belts that the feeling would be "oh, can't get the WWE championship so i'll try to go after the universal championship instead" or vice versa.

I think maximize your roster like what you did on so called monday night wars.. roster depleted almost if not all stars in wcw, build the roster from scratch.. vince and co..put an effort to make every guy from lower mid , upper to main event segments to be must see..

This is more or less exactly what I was going to say. Definitely the recipe for success, and just go ahead and make NXT its own federation; forget these call ups unless its absolutely positively necessary (once every 3-4 years similar to when WCW/WWE talent jumped)

Top 5 Favorite All time:

1) Bore-us Malenko
2) "Iron" Mike Sharpe
3) Dink
4) Tugboat
5) Lightning Foot Jerry Flynn

Current Favorite:

1) Scarlett Bordeaux
2) Joe
3) Walter
4) Killer Kross
5) The Viking Experience (Not the War Raiders)
