Not a Corbin fan but I wish he gets a main event push just for the smarks rage.

Getting booed does not mean you are a good heel. Your job as a heel is still to put asses in seats. Jinder failed at that abysmally. It's why they took the WWE Title off him before they even got to the house show they did in India after needing to amalgamate it and another show, and they still didn't sell out. You can booed all day, but if people walk out of the building with their money, then you have failed.

Jinder and Baron had more fans and smarks come together to shit on a wrestler than anyone else in the last 10 years. How WWE books a face against a great heel is as important as the heel themselves. WWE booked all the faces against Jinder to look like dumb and inadequate the who way through the feud. There's also overexposure. If a good heel is on TV for 30 minutes every episode, cuts a promo talking smack, then proceeds to dominate all the faces........well why should a fan continue booing him? Now you have the terminator and made it clear to fans no matter how much you want this guy beat, you're not going to get it.

WWE ruined Jinder, not Jinder. and I'll argue that forever.
No, lousy ratings aren't the only metric. Poor attendance is another one. Having no faces that no one gives a fuck about when they go up against you is another.

Jinder is not very good. He can't work and no one gave a fuck. I cancelled my Network subscription when he won the belt. That's anecdotal, but does that make him a good heel? Is WWE laughing because they're not getting any money out of me now and switched me onto other promotions. Great business strategy!

I hope that happens too. Right around October would be good. ;-)

No. A heel makes their money being hated. So a liked heel is a failure as a heel.

If it doesn't make money, it doesn't make sense.

The only thing Joe is missing is booking. Brock is another excellent heel.

Re: Can 'cool' heels be considered as great heels?

Not really no. Generally what makes a heel has changed now from the old days.

To most fan a true heel is when a guy is in a prominent position that the crowd doesn't deserve because he's not good enough (See Corbin and Reigns).

It's not enough to act dastardly anymore if the crowd thinks you are a great performer, you won't be such a dastardly heel. There are exceptions like Daniel Bryan who's shown incredible ability to get the crowd to turn on him.

A heel cheats to win, cheats to get the upper hand, isn't too flashy in the ring, doesn't have too cool an entrance. But they aren't booked like that anymore.

"You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait."

"I backed him. You can see how loyal he is. He was begging for my endorsement. I could have said, 'Mitt, drop to your knees.' He would have dropped to his knees."

"You oughta see this guy - 'uh, I don't know what I said, uh, I don't remember,'"

“I will build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me – and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”

"He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured."

Becky was getting great heat when she first turned, now she's slowly going back to her old character that was a mid card at best, all that she has left is she sometimes calls herself a man.

A great heel is one hated by mostly everyone except true anarchist, I.E Raven in ECW his first go around.

I just dont get why everything has to be so black and white. We aren't in the 80's anymore. Why cant ppl cheer the wrestler they want. Sometimes I may agree with a heels view point more. Sometimes the plucky babyface is just annoying. Why do we need to be spoon fed and told we can and cant cheer for. In media the best villains are generally those that are relatable or at least have a understandable motivation. It give a character depth. Why are we so stuck on this this guy is bad/good so cheer/boo accordingly.

Psst, that “villain” you relate to and understand the viewpoint of? That’s the babyface.
