I didn't understand what the story was supposed to be for why these guys were fighting, this was apparently Nakamura's WWE debut, yet the crowd is chanting "THIS IS AWESOME" at the first collar and elbow tie up. Why? Also worth noting both guys have been a total flop in front of a more mainstream audience.

Also most of the matches I've seen from NXT are the same thing recycled over and over. Spamming finishers and kickouts. Not impressive, sorry. What got me into professional wrestling was larger than life characters who hated each other and wanted to fight for a *reason*.

Again, maybe wrestling is just something different from when I began watching but I don't get this infatuation with the indie/NXT style.

"its a fight, not a dance" is the quote that sums up ricochet for me 10000%

HHH with full power and no Vince to answer too means HHH will just interject himself into everything all the time. Look at recent history, every time someone get's hugely over HHH has to get involved, because he thinks if he's involved with as many stars as possible it'll make him into the Big Star he's always wanted to be. He crippled CM Punks momentum at the height of his popularity. He had to be the centerpeice around Daniel Bryan at the height of his popularity (to be fair HHH did great work in that feud, that was the last time he really delivered). He bogged a recently returned Brock Lesnar down in a drawn out three match feud. He teased a feud with Braun Strowman at the height of his popularity. And he even stuck his nose into Becky Lynch's popularity.

That's what HHH does, his ego means he always has to be involved with anything thats popular.

And onto who and what he pushes. He's literally just as bad as Vince McMahon when it comes to who he pushes. Vince prefers guys who look like Stars and HHH prefers workrate guys. But either way they're both close minded, and both exclusively push their guys and ignore everyone else. NXT is still full of wrestlers that get over, but dont get pushed because they don't fit into HHH's plans/ideas.
I'm going to go through a agree/disagree phase with this and explain why. One of the things Triple H has proven himself to be excellent at is promoting his wrestlers and the stories are a lot more fleshed out. The feuds have been consistently better and the wrestlers are given greater opportunity to not just grow as characters but he does an excellent job of hiding their flaws and putting them in better positions to succeed.

But...yeah, I can't deny that this man has been doing everything he can to put himself into what appears to be every hot act that goes on in the WWE. And it's even worse when you consider what he's doing now with Batista. And it's not like he isn't good at what he does. Vince was good at what he did when he put himself into storylines. But there needs to be a line drawn at some point and Triple H doesn't seem to get that. In many cases (apart from the Daniel Bryan thing where his role in the story benefited Bryan tremendously), he's causing more harm than good because he's missing the bigger picture.

I hate Triple and his NXT buddies, especially Adam Cole and midget Gargano. These guys are potential jobbers.

The guys from NXT flop because they're booked like absolute fucking garbage for the most part. I think things will at least improve under HHH, I'm not saying he's gonna bring WWE back to the glory days but I'm certain he could at least build a product which has various storylines which keep you hooked and not have people being a heel one week and a babyface the next.

Indeed. Triple H is literally copying the work from the indies and just rehashes it with a WWE(or better yet, WWE NXT) stamp on it. Like, fuck off. If I wanted a bunch of marks performing 1009 moves in a 20 min match that should have lasted 10 tops then tho local gymnasium wrestling shows would be packed like it was the fucking apocalypse.
It doesn't fucking work Trips, let Avengers pull that high action stuff. Hell, let Lucha freaking U derground do it. You're presenting a real life sport competition inside a classic ring. No more no less. Have some fucking context my dude.

His name is Vince McMahon. Vince doesnt know what to do with the guys/gals Triple H has made into superstars. Vince still wants beefcakes and guys who look the part. While HHH has invested into wrestling, and putting on quality matches. Vince is so into storylines and making sure you can cut a solid promo and sell merch.

HHH is praised because wrestling fans want good matches and great story telling. And HHH's baby NXT; is an example of someone who knows the business; wrestled in the business; is in the locker rooms daily, and has personal interactions with the talent on a daily basis.

HHH allows his guys/gals to be creative and perform. Vince doesnt touch NXT at all.

Are you trying to be a wrestling purist? That has to be the most idiotic statement I have ever read. HHH is actually going out and grabbing talent who would be overlooked by Vince. Half or most of NXT are indy guys who have worked their ass off to get opportunities now; that didn't exist back then. HHH understands wrestling, and the fans.

Copying work form indies? Seriously... that made you sound so dumb and pathetic.

Re: I don't understand the Triple H hype at all. Am I just crazy?

We have good reason to believe HHH will be a great successor to Vince because we have Nxt as a measuring stick. Conspire all you want but one fact remains... NXT takeovers have been must see for the past few years. A track record like that is more than enough for people to have faith in him.

In fact, it looks worse when people completely ignore his track record in NXT. Given 100 percent creative control over the main roster, its hard to not see him doing the same.

As a performer HHH may not be on the same level as the GOATs but he is definitely in the class just under that. Hes still a legend and anyone disputing that is just a hater. Plain and simple.

Keep in mind im saying this as someone who completely hated HHH growing up. But looking from an objective point of view its easy to see why he garners praise

Re: I don't understand the Triple H hype at all. Am I just crazy?

The talent from NXT has floundered because they've been taken away from Triple H and put under Vince's control. How is that a mark against Triple H?

What ACTUAL talent has passed through NXT that he has let his ego get in the way of making a name of? Closest I can think of is Ember Moon, but she just had the poor misfortune of coming along when Asuka was at a peak so monstrous it would have been a mistake to knock her off.

Yes, as a wrestler he's not all that his peers have made him out to be, but I don't think anyone here buys into that hype, nor many outside of the WWE. It was just 15 years ago when he was still working full time when he was the most reviled man in the wrestling universe. The hype around him is based entirely around him as a showrunner, and in that department he is and has been on fire for years with a revolving door of talent at his disposal.
