Re: WWE.com's Top 25 Matches of 2018

I would've added Meiko vs Toni over Meiko vs Mercedes/AJ vs Joe at Summerslam over Bryan vs Miz and Seth vs Miz vs Balor over Seth vs Nakamura but it's not an awful selection by any means.

Good to see a healthy Buddy Murphy representation. ^_^

Re: WWE.com's Top 25 Matches of 2018

I'm surprised that they put Meiko on there but it's nice to see her get a little recognition for her performance in the MYC - she deserves it. I would put Adam Cole vs. Ricochet on there over Ricochet vs. Velveteen Dream and definitely over The Ultimate Deletion Match that they put on there which kind of makes them look silly for their kayfabe reasoning behind not having Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa from TO: NOLA on it. But overall, WWE actually put together a pretty good list for once. I guess there's a first time for everything.

Re: WWE.com's Top 25 Matches of 2018

Almas/Gargano is the MOTY. No other match comes close IMO.

Was Meiko/Martinez really the best match of MYC? I thought it was top 3, but with Meiko/Toni #1.

you're reaching now with Asuka, it has nothing to do with it, and the LWS match was better.

I agree bout the Brock match..overrated.

In any case, I'm guessing you didn't read the descriptions but this should make you all history marks sleep a bit better at night

Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair — SmackDown Women’s Championship Last Woman Standing Match (WWE Evolution)
Lynch vs. Flair
One bit of persnickety house-cleaning before we get to the good stuff: This technically wasn’t the first-ever Last Woman Standing Match to happen under the WWE umbrella (NXT did one in 2017), but we don’t envy the women who’ll have to follow it. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair brought WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view to the kind of urgent, passionate, steal-the-show-or-die-trying crescendo usually reserved for WrestleMania main events in a bout that doubled as Becky’s ascension to certified main-eventer and Charlotte’s rebirth as a platinum-haired psychopath.

Ronda Rousey’s signing in January may have been the natural endpoint of the Women’s Evolution, but it’s this brutal, personal battle that provided the blueprint for the next step after her, where matches like this aren’t spurred on by some kind of cultural movement, but happen simply because the Superstars are capable and empowered enough to pull it off. Despite the name of the show it appeared on, this match was not so much a product of an evolution as it was, perhaps, the first glimpse of a final form. — ANTHONY BENIGNO

I think I'd actually put Meiko/Martinez above Meiko/Toni too. I'm not even sure I'd put a Toni match in the top 3 of this year's MYC, but maybe that's a different strokes issue.

Absolutly Almas/Gargano is MotY though. In WWE/NXT terms it's my match of the decade.

Absolutely yes, in my opinion. I would even go as far to say that it was one of the best WWE matches they've had all year. Great showcase of grappling, highly unique match that your don't usually see in WWE which helps. Everything smoothly lead into the next move. Meiko vs Toni was a glorified PWG match with nothing substantial in-between the kick outs.

All Time Favourites:
Kazuchika Okada, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Eddie Guerrero, Toshiaki Kawada, Daniel Bryan, Kensuke Sasaki & Shinya Hashimoto

I write things sometimes. Always Wrestling related, obviously.

👆🏻 Dis. Knew it before I even opened the thread.

As always, an NXT match should have been at the top, but they’ll never give them that type of credit.

Re: WWE.com's Top 25 Matches of 2018

1. Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women's Title in a Last Woman Standing Match at Evolution - Eh.

2. Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa in a Chicago Street Fight Match at NXT Takeover Chicago - I liked this but I thought their first match was monumentally better. Both were far too long, though.

3. Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan in a Champion vs Champion Match at Survivor Series - I had to watch this a second time because the fear of it being a squash hurt my live viewing, but yeah, really good stuff.

4. Moustache Mountain vs Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Titles on the July 11th episode of NXT - Awesome, awesome tag. bate dicking around with the finish was lame but oh well.

5. Seth Rollins vs The Miz for the Intercontinental Title at Backlash - I remember really liking this, probably my favourite of Seth Rollins' leg hurty matches. Like above, the last few parts of the match were a shame though.

6. The Show vs Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins for the Raw Tag Team Titles at Hell in a Cell - I remember a really exciting second half, don't really remember the first half. Could use a rewatch. Hold on since when were they called "The Show"?

7. Johnny Gargano vs Cien Almas for the NXT Title at NXT Takeover Philadelphia - Like every Gargano/Ciampa this didn't need it's length but the last 2/3rds of the match are great enough to make up for most shortcomings.

8. Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns vs John Cena vs Elias vs The Miz vs Braun Strowman in a Gauntlet Match on the February 19th episode of Raw - I am not watching this.

9. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon vs Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania 34 - The HHH v. Angle parts were kinda crappy but yeah this tag fucking rules. Shockingly great showing from Steph (though her fighting Rousey on the armbar was lmaooo) and an incredible debut for Rousey.

10. New Day vs Bludgeon Brothers in a No DQ Match for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles on the August 22nd episode of Smackdown - I don't remember this at all, might have missed it.

11. Pete Dunne vs Adam Cole vs Ricochet in a Triple Threat Match for the NXT North American Title on the October 10th episode of NXT - Not watching it.

12. Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women's Title at NXT Takeover Brooklyn - I liked all three of their matches but I really hope their best together is yet to come.

13. Asuka vs Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat TLC Match for the Smackdown Women's Title at TLC - Fun? Some dumb shit in it but fun.

14. Buddy Murphy vs Mustafa Ali in a No DQ Match on the July 3rd episode of 205 Live - " It’s yet another match I’d just label as “pretty good.” " - this is what I said about.

15. Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor for the Universal Title on the August 20th episode of Raw - Hell yeah good good title match, really refreshing after a half dozen shitty Reigns matches on PPV. This is what he does best.

16. Meiko Satomura vs Mercedes Martinez at The Mae Young Classic - Awesome match, Satomura looked as good as anybody in the world. I might say it's the best match on this list.

17. Cedric Alexander vs Buddy Murphy for the Cruiserweight Title on the May 29th episode of 205 Live - THIS Buddy Murphy match I remember, and it's really good. I'd call it the best singles match on the main roster up until....god like October or something.

18. Daniel Bryan vs The Miz at SummerSlam - This was ok? Whatever I didn't care about it tbh.

19. EC3 vs Ricochet vs Adam Cole vs Lars Sullivan vs Killain Dain vs Velveteen Dream in a Ladder Match for the NXT North American Title at NXT Takeover New Orleans - Not my thing really but they're always easy to watch.

20. AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Title in a Last Man Standing Match at Money in The Bank - None of the matches these two had against enough was worth pretty much anything. Burn this feud.

21. Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe for the Intercontinental Title on the January 1st episode of Raw - Was solid but they had like three matches better in 2017. If you wanted another Reigns match on here, the one with Sheamus on Raw in Feb or March was way better.

22. Kalisto vs Buddy Murphy on the April 3rd episode of 205 Live - I liked their match from August, I don't believe I saw this one.

23. Ricochet vs Velveteen Dream at NXT Takeover Chicago - I thought it was good but didn't really feel anything for it.

24. Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura in a Champion vs Champion Match at Survivor Series - If I went around to the people who made this list and asked what was good about this, I doubt they'd even remember a single thing that happened in it. Boring and uneventful. Stop giving 20+ minutes to wrestlers who can't fill the time.

25. Bray Wyatt vs Woken Matt Hardy in The Ultimate Deletion Match - This was this year and not 2017??
