Re: Daniel Bryan Praises All In And The State Of The Independent Scene

To me, it's just cool that a guy who made it big outside WWE and helped make WWE a better place for guys of his generation, it's cool to see him acknowledge the success outside the company which hasn't been seen in a long time.

And to add to this debate which has taken over the threat itself, lets not try to down play what ROH & NJPW have done selling out this show so fast. Is it the same thing considering the WWE ticket prices are a hell of a lot higher than the prices for this show? No, it's not the same thing.

But honestly, who cares? ROH & NJPW sold out the Garden. That was unfathomable even 6 months ago.

It's not a question of downplaying it for the fuck of it. It's looking at the context and circumstances, and trying to put things into their proper perspective.

There's a reason why they chose that specific night to host the event, and not another night throughout the year. It's because they know for a fact that a high concentration of diehard wrestling fans will be in NY that weekend, and it makes their event a relatively much easier sell than trying to convince their fanbase to fly in for that specific event alone.

It might sound insulting, but it's not a stretch to say that they're piggybacking off of Wrestlemania. That's why I brought this up when Chrome mentioned that the WWE haven't sold out the Garden in years while ROH / NJPW sold it out.

If the talent on that show make money then great. If the promotions make money then great. If the fans enjoy their show and get their money's worth then great! I couldn't be happier for everyone involved.

Every time I read that headline, it makes me even happier than I already was to begin with.

NJPW& ROH sold out MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.

What a beautiful, beautiful headline. Fucking glorious in every sense of the word, and then some.

Re: Daniel Bryan Praises All In And The State Of The Independent Scene

I know a lot of people (especially in the Mania travel thread here on WF) who had to decide whether to go to the MSG show or NXT Takeover, which is on the same night. So yes, a lot of people going to the MSG show are also going to Mania. I don't know why people are having such a hard time realising that Most of the indie companies who run shows over Mania weekend do it cos they know there's thousands of wrestling fans in town for Mania.

I mean come on, I've been to 5 Manias, and this year I branched out and went to the WrestleCon Supershow, my first indie event at a Mania weekend. And it was AWESOME

I won't be going to the MSG show, but good for them for selling it out. I'm glad all types of wrestling does well

I am happy that ROH/NJPW accomplished this. In the grand scheme of things, it means nothing to WWE but is a great coup for ROH/NJPW. Too bad Bryan won't be a part of it.

Get it right, WWE sold out MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.

Those people are only there to see WWE content, NJPW & ROH are just picking up the scraps like vultures because only WWE matters.

People need to wake up and realize WWE made NJPW what it is, with their bad product pushing people to the Indy scene they've given the Indies bigger audiences.

SO BE THANKFUL

Re: Daniel Bryan Praises All In And The State Of The Independent Scene

I think it's worth mentioning here that "All In" is the Cody Rhodes/Bucks produced event later this year.

The "G1 Supercard" is a joint venture with ROH/New Japan. That one is scheduled during WM weekend.

I'd say it's a pretty big fucking deal that both sold out MSG setting new records.

Even though the G1 Supercard is in NY during WM weekend, the fact that it sold out in 16 minutes says a lot about the drawing power of ROH/NJPW provided they can keep the Bucks and Omega signed until next year.

Well, according to Meltzer:

Quote:
An interesting note is that for ROH in Madison Square Garden, thus far is that 75 percent of sales were local. A key to that is that this is not the same audience as All In as most expected. Nor is it a fly-in audience coming in for WrestleMania. It is a New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania crowd so the idea of piggybacking fly-ins off WrestleMania as most have thought was the key to the sellout is not the case.

But okay fair enough if that's actually the case. Although that still doesn't mean that lots of fans from a relatively nearby area aren't also going to Wrestlemania and chose to buy a ticket to the MSG show because it's part of the weekend.

Again, it's not a coincidence that ROH / NJPW are hosting an event at the Garden that day. They understand that it greatly increases their chances of selling tickets.
