WWE gives too much importance to social media and that hurts

First of all, we all know that wrestling is fake. Does it seems necessary for WWE to use social medias in rivalries? I think not, rather than making wrestling seem like a clown show.

The reason why I think it's stupid is actually due to stupid promos on the likes of Instagram, twitter and all that crap. Do they need to keep acting their character outside of WWE on a short screen, imo, that's just goofy and plain ridiculous.

The "Reality" era is the most ridiculous thing that I have ever seen in Wrestling.
I expect watching wrestling, not some stupid old lady sitcoms, for example, that crappy "Miz & Mrs" or the Bellas one, aren't WWE supposed to be about wrestling? Why are they doing all that stupid crap?

For me, Social Media is killing Wrestling and the world. Speaking as a 21 years old, don't go calling me old for disliking that crap.

Thank you for reading this.

Social media really is the worst thing. And I say this fully aware that I spend half my day on Twitter.

The only thing that bothers me about social media use in wrestling is when talent breaks kayfabe or goes out of character on their wrestling personality account.

If you're a heel and you're using your social media account to signal about what a good person you are IRL, you're doing it wrong.

I think wwe has simply lost touch and has got lost in the modern world, they dont know how to compute it.

They are so used to running a company in the pre internet world that now it just overwhelms them and they are trying too hard to be "hip" and "groovy".

even vince has a twitter account that he himself clearly doesnt use, its just weird.

Tbh though, the entire world gives way too much importance to social media and it's seriously hurting the human existence in general.

Doesn't bother me at all. Depends on how you use it. See Ciampa.

WWE and their "superstars" needs to learn how to use social media from Being The Elite. And Ciampa too since the guy above me reminded me of him.

Re: WWE gives too much importance to social media and that hurts

Social Media is the perhaps one of the only things that the WWE uses that's current and modern and the product has always echoed modern culture.

But I agree on your general ethos on social media.

Kayfabe has been dying for decades but social media was pretty much the final nail in the coffin. I don't want to see The Undertaker posting instagram posts. I don't want to think of Bray Wyatt sitting in his swamp on a computer tweeting etc. - it's not right.

Re: WWE gives too much importance to social media and that hurts

Well it's their way of thinking they are cool. They run everything into the ground and that includes their glory days as well. They take everything to the extreme where it becomes annoying.

Plus, at least in the 80's Vince Mcmahon was young and actually had a pulse on what the audience wanted. The 1990's we saw Vince Mcmahon become outdated and if it wasn't for the likes of Bret Hart (yes in the early part of the decade his direction was the right one), HBK, The Kliq, and Vince Russo he would still be putting out played out stuff.

Now he has a monopoly and the people who he listened to are also outdated like HHH and HBK and his own daughter. They need new and fresh blood up there who also know when to tone it down.

Social Media is doing damage to people's attention span myself included lol.
