Why doesn’t the Undertaker officially retire?

No disrespect to him but he’s slow, old and extremely boring now. Just retire and stop coming back! Shawn Michaels stayed retired out of respect for the Undertaker yet Taker just keeps coming back every year. We make a huge deal out of Brock’s schedule but Taker gets a huge pay day once a year. I’d be more annoyed with him if I were on the roster

He is doing it to pay those gimmicks called bills. The moment he retires, old age will hit him even harder, and it is a tough job being a coach in today's PC world. As long as Vince wants him to wrestle, he will keep going. People in the Desert countries and South Asia wet their pants everytime he is on TV.

He'll keep going as long as he can. Heaven knows how long that will be.

Re: Why doesn’t the Undertaker officially retire?

He makes $1 million for every match, I read. Must be good to make that kind of money when you're required to make minimum appearances to promote said match as well, like this year where he showed up zero times on Raw and then won at WrestleMania anyway after, like, three minutes.

I wish he'd just hang 'em up for good, I love Taker but he should have called it a career after the Reigns loss. People (including WWE) used to give WCW guys a lot of shit for competing too long after their prime but it's The Undertaker so we're supposed to be fine with it, I guess.

Seeing Undertaker is in this shape is ...weird...

Ring bell, long entrance and yaawning a bit...and then we see this old man that barely can move beating some young wrestlers..

Beating Cena was just too much... and I'm no fan of Cena...

So we probably are stucked with Undertaker a lot of more years...the new Ric Flair.

Re: Why doesn’t the Undertaker officially retire?

Because his ego as an athlete probably goes

" I can't do this weekly, but surely I can do this once or twice a year. And look at the money Vince is offering, I'd be a fool not to take it".

It's hard for athletes to just move on, especially in wrestling and fighting where somebody will always give you a job. A blame Vince being greedy more than I do Taker, sometimes you have to save people from themselves.

He should put someone over and move on. But he keeps coming back. Enough is enough. IMO, he’s ruined his legacy already.

Re: Why doesn’t the Undertaker officially retire?

It's not as though he hasn't tried. He left his gloves in the centre of the ring at WrestleMania 32, and short of having "I RETIRE" spelled out in the sky by fireworks there couldn't have been a more obvious retirement than WrestleMania 33. If they keep begging him to come back and throw millions of dollars at him he's not going to turn them down, is he?
