Even if that were true, it doesn't matter because Warrior has an award that's brought up all the fucking time throughout the year. This upcoming battle royal won't be. Also, Warrior was one of the most popular figures in the original wrestling boom which means way more people know of him. People knew Warrior outside of wrestling. Nobody outside wrestling knows who Moolah was. That doesn't mean that she wasn't worse but more that if he can get an award, anyone can.

Except there is no evidence that she was pimping anyone out, and many of the people who claim she did openly hate her due to her hogging the spotlight and burying other wrestlers for years.

The worse she did that can be proven is charging fees in exchange for bookings in her own promotions, and talking huge cuts of other wrestlers salaries when she worked for other promotors. Both of these were very common in the business at that time, and some major legends did it. No one really attacks any else the way they attack Moolah over it though. I think she gets attack for it mainly because she's a woman. Ric Flair used to do the same things, and you don't see anyone calling for him to get banned from WWE programming over it.

lmao its because the wwe doesnt really have any other women other than Mae Young to pay tribute to really. They treated womens wrestling like shit for their entire existence so..whoops. And no dont give me Wendy Richter, come on now.

BUT if the wwe wanted to really really really really impress me and the world.... CHYNA invitational would be EXCELLENT! A battle royal in honor of Joanie would have been an actual good call.

Imo it boils down to the age old discussion of whether or not you can "separate an artist from their work". I try to, most things in this world would be ruined if you didn't, but it's not always easy to completely block it out of your head.
Problem w/ that in this case is her alleged crimes involved her work.

Whatever your opinion on that is, it's pretty much inarguable that she's the one that's most closely associated with championship level prestige. I mean, she's basically the womens Flair, since no other woman has won the belt 7 times, at least not according to their history.

I agree, they don't matter, but if people are gonna give them shit because they named it after someone controversial, just name it after someone who's not controversial. Or, don't name it after anybody. Just call it the, I don't know, the "womens invitational battle royal", or some bullshit. You don't need to potentially open up a can of worms by having some writer publish an article about Moolah that makes WWE look bad. You don't have to try to match Andre, which Moolah doesn't even come close. Andre is a legit cultural icon who transcended the business.
This will work.

While I'm with you in theory. I'm not sure it really matters. These battle royals are all destined to be jobber achievements anyway.

They'll pretend the Andre one is a big deal this year because of the, awesome looking, documentary coming out, but next year it'll be the same preshow joke it was last year.

So again, while I agree with you in theory, name it after Trish, Moolah, Sherri Martel, whoever, until these battle royals start meaning something what they're called won't matter to me either.
I like this. I'm actually surprised WWE doesn't do more to push her legacy. I know she's not as remembered as others but she was one of the best female heels of all time.

I don't give a fuck what someone says or does in their lives outside of the business. You know, cause I'm not a whiny pussy.

What she did was deep rooted inside the business not just outside it.

Moolah is one of the biggest cunts to ever live. Held countless women back in the industry to wax her own ego. Spent her years hating Ronda Singh and Madusa for refusing to be trained by her (by that point Vince had fired Moolah and her backstage power was lost). Forced women to work for her (sexually and at her cafe) if they refused she'd deny them matches. Famously killed the career of Mad Maxine. Made Leilani Kai and others train new recruits whilst she got paid for training them.

All this has been confirmed by countless women of the time. They can't all be wrong.

She's the one the average fan associates with womens wrestling the most closely anyway.
You're missing their secondary motivation for the match.

At a time when interest in the history of Women's wrestling is at an all-time high due to the women's evolution, the WWE is trying to re-write history and make Moolah as marketable as possible to today's generation.

So why Moolah? Because she is going to be the symbol for women's equality because she was the first. That is a status that holds off the charts value in today's PC-mad world, and furthers the women's evolution story.
