What are the chances! Something like that is easy to forget, can't blame her.
I'm just saying what the rumors are man

Whether or not a person believes the accusations made against her and whether or not that effects their legacy is up to that person.

Imo it boils down to the age old discussion of whether or not you can "separate an artist from their work". I try to, most things in this world would be ruined if you didn't, but it's not always easy to completely block it out of your head.

I don't know why the person this is named after has to be dead. It doesn't have to be a "memorial" battle royal. They could've just avoided any controversy and named it after Trish Stratus, because to be perfectly honest, she's the name that people think of when they think womens wrestling, they don't think Moolah. Maybe historians like Meltzer do, but for the common person, it's Trish. Moolah is a relic like Buddy Rogers or Lou Thesz, there's far more cache in naming it after a more modern star, especially if there's no controversy attached to her.

This situation in particular just annoys me due to the lack of evidence, the idea of her being able to actually get away with it is ludicrous, and despite that so many people still choose to believe it anyway. and it's not like this is just petty backstage gossip, these are serious allegations.

Warrior seemed like an asshole. Moolah's been rumored to have done far worse than he ever has.

I think this was way before her.

Obviously I can't verify this but there are some pretty terrible things she's been accused of.

Why name a battle royale after Moolah?

Chyna may have done porn but at least she did more good to women.
Moolah pimped her talents and even facilitated rape. No woman will want to represent that.

In cases like this there often times isn't a whole lot of evidence. As I said a lot of the time it's a he said she said, or in this case she said she said.

It's a case where the accusations can neither be fully proven or completely dismissed.

The idea that she could never have gotten away with it is also kind of naive. It's been shown time and time again that the wrestling industry in those days was a very closed off, isolated industry with A LOT of closely held secrets. Hearing stories about those days it really seems like wrestlers were living in the Twilight Zone.

Chyna was blackballed because she's Triple H's ex, and the fact that he cheated on her with Stephanie hurts ol' Ladyballs' image.

On your second point, even if Moolah had done all that, most of the female talent would probably be too brain dead to know or care about it.

Re: Why name a battle royale after Moolah?

I'll re-iterate the same point I made before. WHY does it have to be a MEMORIAL battle royal? You don't have to name it after Moolah or Chyna, or anybody else who's dead that has controversy on their name. Name it after Trish. She's the one the average fan associates with womens wrestling the most closely anyway.

To add "prestige"

While I'm with you in theory. I'm not sure it really matters. These battle royals are all destined to be jobber achievements anyway.

They'll pretend the Andre one is a big deal this year because of the, awesome looking, documentary coming out, but next year it'll be the same preshow joke it was last year.

So again, while I agree with you in theory, name it after Trish, Moolah, Sherri Martel, whoever, until these battle royals start meaning something what they're called won't matter to me either.

Re: Why name a battle royale after Moolah?

Because she was an amazing and talented legend according to WWE's revisionist history. They don't care what anyone else says and know they won't be challenged on this.

Hiroshi Tanahashi/Kazuchika Okada/Minoru Suzuki/Daniel Bryan/Asuka

Samoa Joe/Tetsuya Naito/Tomohiro Ishii/Meiko Satomura/Jay White
