Nah she was legit, she just got her psyche fucked with by the Holm loss and could never regain her confidence after that. Its not uncommon to see fighters dominate for ages then lose once and suddenly make a habit out of it. Aldo, Fedor, Anderson etc. Having an aura of invincibility can give you a significant psychological advantage, once its broken thats gone.

Dunno man....

So I heard Chael say it best on his podcast:

"The start of the women's division in UFC is similar to the start of any division, you have your one or two that are a little bit better than the rest and you try to make stars out of them."

Shamrock, Gracie, Severn. They all had the mirage of being badasses, but they weren't really compared to the upper echelon of talent later in the UFC. So Rhonda in a way was sort of like these pioneers. Which thats what she was...a pioneer, but inferior to the current crop.

"When you look at me, know that every stitch of clothing I have on, the Jag parked outside, every meal I have ever put on my sons dinner table has been paid for by professional wrestling." - Aldis

It helps Brock Lesnar to be seen as legit because it fuels the beast persona even more.
Yeah, people do actually want to believe when they watch. Pretty simple really.

Legitimacy can help with how the wrestlers are presented. And the whole legitimacy thing as it is in wrestling started out with guys like CM Punk whos fans would proudly proclaim how legit he was.

Re: Being "legit" means nothing in WWE.

Being "legit" means that people are more likely to believe in you. That means they can invest in you. That means you can be a star. Yes, charisma is important -- and that is why Brock and Ronda are such big stars. It's why more people care about them losing than someone else winning. Being "legit" doesn't mean you a shoe-in in to be able to adapt and be a big star in wrestling, but it's a very good start towards working people, which is the game.
