Re: Rate WWE's main roster for the year 2017?

Well there was a lot of good...

- Braun tearing shit up.
- Braun/Roman.
- Brock/Goldberg.
- Brock/Joe.
- That whole summer of Brock/Joe/Braun/Roman beating the shit out of each other was awesome.
- A golden year for tag team wrestling, highlighted most by Usos/New Day.
- Jason Jordan's slow heel turn.
- The rise of Elias.
- The Survivor Series build.
- Rusev Day.
- Asuka being handled well on the main roster.
- Stephanie being gone for most of the year (this alone makes 2017 better than any of the recent years before it).

But when it was bad it was atrocious...

- Jinder's title reign.
- Brock holding the Raw title hostage for a year.
- Bray/Orton.
- Bray/Balor.
- Alexa Bliss driving the women's divisions on both shows into a ditch.
- Alexa/Bayley deserves its own special mention in the Bliss reign of terror.
- The wrong MITB winners.
- Kane's return.
- Absolution and the Riott Squad having potential to shake things up but failing miserably because the writers suck.

Overall I'll say 6 or maybe even 7 because Braun was so fun to watch, but 7 is a bit generous since I like Braun a lot, so 6 seems like a bigger fit for the general population.

Plenty of people have been iron man at the Rumble. All it says is that they’re at least midcarders, it does not mean they are main eventers. So does being the EC is not an indicator of main event status. Even worse since he lost his first qualifying match.

I don’t think he’s had an actual PPV one on one main event since he came bacck.
Balor has only spent a few months on the main roster, so its great that he is already UV champ and in top matches.

Besides what else do you propose they could do with him? The title is held hostage by Brock until the Roman coronation is done. So they are doing the best they can, put him in top matches but of course he isn't winning the Rumble or EC.

Now after Roman wins the title, Balor can challenge him sometime later this year and possibly win the title or win Royal Rumble 2019.

Re: Rate WWE's main roster for the year 2017?

Universal Title was an afterthought. WWE Title was on a pathetic jobber for half of the year. Wrestlemania had no classic match and only had one truly good Wrestlemania Worthy match and that was the opener and The Hardy's returning was a great moment. Rollins/HHH should have been excellent but was OK. It seemed to drag and the crowd was pretty quiet. Cena relegated to garbage match that Miz carried the whole angle. Main event was a shitshow.

I can not think of one excellent World Title match other than Styles/Cena at The Rumble (and IMHO Summerslam 16 was better). Title vs Title at Survivor Series was pretty good (and held up even better in a rewatch) I enjoyed a lot of NXT Takeovers. Brock and Jinder's title defenses to me were all borderline duds with the exception of the Summerslam Fatal Fourway which I feel was fun but really was about Braun destroying Brock and Brock napping and taking a win. Joe and Reigns were basically invisible.

I wanted to see Rollins get a crack at Brock. Maybe even a Triple Threat with Dean involved. I think Ambrose, Miz and Wyatt all coming to Raw was bad for all of them.

Tag Division has seen a lot of quality matches on both shows but Raw got too Rollins & Partner vs The Bar. Uso's and New Day had a number of very good to nearly excellent matches.

If 1998 and 2000 were 10's I would probably give this a 2 (or 3) in comparison. However it is a different era and I have to give the Professor's Curve. I would give the Main Roster a 4 at the very best. Reigns and Brock bringing Raw down.

Like I said, I do think Vince was high on Balor early on, but not after he got injured. So being the first universal champ is irrelevent.

I don’t know, have him not get destroyed by Kane, or lose against Cena, or Roman. The fact that he wasn’t considered over enough by Vince to even challenge Brock speaks volumes as to how Vince percieves him.

Top matches my ass. The only singles PPV matches he’s had were against AJ and Bray. Bray is self-explanatory while the AJ match was just a completely last minute thing. Not that AJ was treated like a big deal then anyway. He just got through losing clean to Corbin.

That's what Meltzer said but I have read PWI state that the reason was that Vince didn't want Demon to lose. So that point is up for debate.

The Extreme Rules main event, Survivor series main event, Raw 25 DX, The Rumble performance and the upcoming EC are all top matches and segments and Balor was in all of them.

You speak so low of Balor but guess what Strowman has an absymal PPV record. He was killed by Roman at Great Balls, Lost at Summerslam, lost at No Mercy, got his ass kicked by Shield at TLC, Lost at Rumble, and will lose at EC. He is only over cos of his car flips and stuff.

What I am getting at is it doesn't matter if you are Braun or Balor, both are on the same boat. Both lost at Rumble and will lose at EC. Until this Roman coronation is over, nobody is going to win any big matches.

Re: Rate WWE's main roster for the year 2017?

How can I judge the talent if they're booked like absolute shit? Most of them either got buried or didn't get a chance to show what they've got. I guess 5 would be fair putting the booking into consideration. It's sad because the roster is stacked with talent that just need actual humans with working minds booking them, and that ain't happening anytime soon.

All Time
Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, Mankind, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Batista, Cm Punk, The Rock, Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero

Current
Everyone is buried.

It deserves a four. There are some good entratainers, but McMahon Family rules are too much stricts than they don't know what do public want.
