Like, I get that the H&M people should have probably done a double take or revision to ensure that their ad didn't step on toes or anything, but like...come on, to say this was intentional?
You do know that that guy didn't actually pose for that specific shirt? Do you know how redbubble works? It's basically just a stock picture that people's designs are put on.

The clowns on here man

Black supremacists also commonly call whites rhesus monkey and cave monkey. Monkey can also be used in a general sense (monkeying around, cheeky monkey etc)

But if we for the sake of argument say that black people have the exclusive right to get defensive and upset by anyone using the term monkey in their vicinity, then by the same token couldnt this...

also be construed as racist? since the term "hillbilly" is used even more exclusively towards whites than "monkey" is on blacks.

Iíve been white my whole life and have never been called a cave monkey, not have I known anyone to have been called a cave monkey. Put down the MAGA hat man and return your tiki torches

Well congratulations on having never experienced racism for being white. Clearly your experiences are universal and as such you are now the authority on what white people are allowed to be offended by.

So pointing out that "monkey" is not used exclusively for black people and highlighting your own hypocritical use of something that could be construed as a racial slur makes me a member of a white supremacist group in a country that I dont live in?

You're being quick to brand people who disagree with you here...

Re: WWE Superstar Calls Out H & M For Racial Profiling!

it's simple common courtesy and common sense to not do anything to put that association into people's minds even unintentionally or benignly

because if you do even unintentionally or benignly all it does is get a bunch of people hot and bothered and they start a ruckus over it

so take the 2/10th of a second it takes to remember giving people any kind of reason to think you're associating black people with apes and monkeys is a dumb thing to do and don't do it

it's a black kid wearing a hoodie that says he's a monkey. and is that really the best picture they took of him? that is not a good picture. this entire production is a total derp

like even if it didn't have a black kid in a hoodie that says he's a monkey if i were boss i'd fire the people who made this there's not one redeeming quality to that picture

i can see how some dumb bunch of badly educated young lower midlevel ad people could do this without realizing what they were doing but it's still dumb and not doing this should be something that is realized, understood, and followed by not doing it

There has been an AEWakening... have you felt it?

The mark wars have begun again

DAMN THAT TRACK IS HOT

THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE (IS BACK) (AGAIN)

Re: WWE Superstar Calls Out H & M For Racial Profiling!

Closing thread because it's really not about WWE.

Also, much like the idiots in H&M's marketing department there are people completely tone deaf & insensitive to historical context that makes this situation offensive. H&M wrote an apology not worth the tissue I wipe my ass on. Good for The Weeknd who use to model for them is now telling these fools to kick rocks!
