It is safe to assume that Aries made bottom tier money for a superstar (in the range of 80-100K). It's also safe to assume that in an overwhelming majority of cases, WWE Superstars make significantly more than indie wrestlers. In other words, Aries tried making a point while using essentially an outlier example, and did so, by providing a small window, immediately after leaving WWE.
No. Unless you're Roman Reigns or one of the chosen elite, most wrestlers in the WWE make about as much as Aries did before leaving. Guys like Reigns and other Vince projects are the minority in the WWE. If you're Reigns, I agree, you'd be crazy to leave the WWE, you'd never make anything close to that anywhere else. But for the rest of the roster, it's a wash. 6 figure ish if you can become a big star, less if you aren't but you travel a whole lot less.

AJ Styles was the same. He was making more working for ROH and NJPW and a handful of indies than he made in TNA, or what he makes in WWE after having to pay his travel, hotels, food, taxes, etc...

WWE is "the big leagues" but they don't pay talents as such unless your name is Cena, Orton or part-timers (Lesnar and friends).

Re: Austin Aries On Money He Made In "Bingo Hall" vs. "The Big League"

Does anyone have any information on how Indy booking works? I just donít understand how they make money.

Now, I realize that there are some low-card Indy guys that probably get paid nothing, or very little... but it seems that most Indy shows have several mid-high level draws (for Indy wrestlers, of course - high level being a Cody Rhodes or Ryback or ADR). There seem to be a decent number of somewhat well known guys on any half decent Indy card.

I just donít understand how the booker/promoter/whatever makes any money... you only draw a couple hundred people at best, most of whom arenít paying more than a few bucks to get in... you pay for the hotel, travel, and half decent pay for at least the more well known talents... pay costs associated with the venue, ring, etc.

Iíve always wondered about this

That's simply not true regarding WWE, let's not make stuff up. AJ Styles is making millions and was in that top 10 list that came out featuring Lesnar, Cena & Reigns at the top.

Do you really think AJ will be in the WWE if he wasn't better off? Top tier talent will make their money in WWE.

Aries isn't much of a draw in WWE so better off in indies short term.

I don't see anyone in the Cruiserweight division making that much. WWE are probs paying them a small sum so I can easily see bigger name indy guys like Aries making more even a year from now.

Now would someone like Mustafa Ali? Probarly not but the bigger name ones? Yeah I can see them making more money.

Spoiler for Don't be sad it is over, be happy it happened:
