Seems like they never had any real plans for any of these guys other than stick them on a hour show and let them fuck about, while giving it shitty promotion. It also feels to me like they were simply signed for the sake of WWE wanting everybody so other companies can't have them.

In WWE, wrestlers have the biggest chance to make themselves into huge names than anywhere else. But, if you literally are NEVER given that opportunity, what's the point of even being in WWE? I mean sure, you get a paycheck, but apparently for these guys that isn't even that much. Some of these guys are sacrificing everything, on the road just like the main roster, but are given the scraps to work with, and many of them really don't have a chance to get to any sort of level with how they are treated and booked.

Look at a guy like Gran Metalik, who was one of the biggest highlights of the CWC, yet he's done absolutely nothing, and has barely been featured in anything remotely significant in any way. Is it worth staying in WWE for him just because of "WWE money?" Sure, the indies are a toss up, but he's a guy with enough talent to attract an audience.

WWE isn't a sure thing for wrestlers anymore. It shouldn't be treated like the be all end all.
I know, it crazy, they desperately wanted Kalisto to be the Latin satr but Gran Metalik is that star and they are wasting him. Gran Metalik could go back to Mexico and become a big star in CMLL. He would be fine, the rest of the CW can be either way.

I don't think anyone who would be considering leaving is going to be as successful as Cody Rhodes (apart from Daniel Bryan, obviously).

Hope this serves as a wake-up call for WWE, though.

Pure speculation here, but I don't think they like his look.

Low level indies > wwe > tshirt sales

The exposure is fantastic for any of these guys, even if not top earners they will make more than they did before they signed.

Neville will make good money if he leaves, he can put a "Man that Creative Forgot" top up on pro-wrestling Ts tomorrow and makes bank.

If it's going to make them happy going else where, more power to them. I just hope they don't think they'll all have the same success and make the same money Cody is on the indy's.

Re: Report: Several wrestlers looking to exit from the WWE; Taking advice from Cody Rhodes

The problem is, WWE buys all the talent as they know their grip on the audience slips so much more with each passing year, "we'll buy the top guys of that promotion so you HAVE to come to our shows to see them!" that they have a roster that is too damn stacked. All this top of the card talent wasted because there is no place for them when they are jumbled in with Vince's favourites and so few are going to leave because WWE is always seen as the end goal and people still see being a WWE jobber > an indy World Champ. It is a really sorry state of affairs.

I hope they do leave and do well without WWE.

Featured role in 2 episodes, probably reappear in flashbacks/residuals, entitlement to SAG membership, 100% pay.

People leaving won’t change anything. The WWE still uses the same 10 guys a show and everyone else is basically just a guest star.

Re: Report: Several wrestlers looking to exit from the WWE; Taking advice from Cody Rhodes

It´s not really news that WWE keeps cutting costs to stay profitable in recent years. You can see it in the whole production value and at the lowest tier what are your chances to make a great living, when you

- low base salary
- rarely get PPV/network cheques
- video game cheques
- low percentages on merchandise
- don´t own your name
- pay for your own travel expenses
- work 250 days a year

Compared to

- 100 days a year
- own my name
- own a large percentage of my merchandise
- have more creative control
- less and partly paid travel by working a territory like East Coast and Tour Japan

It´s not the starting salary that draws wrestlers to WWE and when they see no progess it´s natural that they´d be interested to try the other route.
