No stars have ever been created - and especially not since the early 80s - that weren't given the opportunity to express themselves and take on some form of control in a way that is necessary to become a star. You need the fed to be listening to what the fans want and be able to adapt accordingly, choosing the right slots and the right guys. And you need a fandom that is committed to the product, proud of showing and sharing the product with casual and non-fans, and the casual and non-fans to be open to trying something/returning to something that their snap judgement perceives as lame.

None of those things are possible at the moment. Fickle management has some effect, internet fans disagreeing with other and becoming contradictory has more effect, and the public perception of just about everything being more fixed nowadays than at points in the past has the most effect of all.

As has been said before, there was no star power in the Ringmaster, Rocky Maivia, Mean Mark Calloway etc.

So in terms of number of guys who 'could' be major stars....well it's anyone with something close to a full package - Roman, Rollins, Sheamus, Johnny Curtis, Joe, AJ, Charlotte, Gable, Rusev.......there are a few.

In terms of 'will be' or 'are' stars. It's not going to happen unless a number of things change, and some of those things aren't even in WWEs control, never mind the performers.

Incidentally, Orton has done a ton of damage in this area by being the Jay Cutler of the WWE. The only thing worse that a top guy being terrible, is a guy who keeps being just about good enough to keep his place until you realise you've gone a whole generation with nothing and it's because he's been clogging things up the whole time.

Yeah, just to be clear I wasn't being exhaustive, I'd happily include Ambrose and Tyler Breeze on that list.

Great point, while obviously everyone should strive to be the best and out do the bests, being judged in comparison to the GOATs isn't really fair to someone's actual star power.

Re: Convince me that anyone Full Time today is a major star in WWE

I think these 3 pages are enough.

I would class the likes of Daniel Bryan and CM Punk in a similar bracket as Bret Hart, HBK, Undertaker, HHH, Goldberg, Sting, maybe some of you will think I'm pushing it but they were legit over, and CM Punk had cross over appeal, Bryan maybe not as much, but lets leave that for another day since neither wrestle anymore.

Reigns and Rollins have been able to go over a few op names, the former more specifically such as HHH, and Undertaker, getting to be in segments and look equal to Goldberg, squash the entire roster.

But neither are at Punk/Bryan levels to me. I saw a trailer for WWE 2K18 coming to the Nintendo Switch with Seth being the face for the game, do you know what the top upvoted/thumbs up comment was?

That's what an everyday joe thinks of that talent.

itd be like comparing every movie you watch to shawshank
each film would naturally feel worse because your comparing it to the best rather than taking it for what it is

Re: Convince me that anyone Full Time today is a major star in WWE

I think someone COULD make the case for Randy Orton. He's a guy that people might "know of" if they've watched sporadically over the years when other things have grabbed their attention. He carries himself like a star and has that vibe of someone who doesn't give a fuck because he knows he won't be fired. It makes him refreshing on the mic recently, despite Orton never being the best promo. If only he gave enough of a fuck to swing his dick around a bit more and demand better stories around him. It's a catch-22.

There are a handful of guys who COULD be stars. They're not really, but there's enough to them either charisma-wise or in how "total" the package is. Styles, Joe, Big E and Rusev all seem to have one or the other. Styles and Joe seem like they know their gimmicks inside and out. Bi E and Rusev have got the right frames and the personalities to support a push. I think that Jeff Hardy would still have value in a main event role too.

Everyone else kind of feels like they have a ceiling, or are lacking that "spark" or attitude to really feel like it all comes together. They've all got those "big paws" and when pushed into certain scenarios, they don't really deliver in that way you'd expect stars to.

None, the only guys they push that way, including Roman Reigns, just don't have enough mainstream appeal. The rest, we will never know since they don't get the opportunity
