A lot has been made abut the idea that it's really hard to get a traditional babyface over because fans just don't accept them anymore. But, I think there is something to the notion that many fans are even less accepting of the chickenshit heel champion, having been conditined to preferring the cool heel, monster heel, tweener, or badass face.

It would be a lot more tolerable if booked right. If your going to have a heel champion cheat and chicken shit out of situations that's fine, but book him strong. The champ should not be getting pinned or submitted in Raw/SD matches. He should be fed lower card guys if your going to have him wrestle and he needs to be defeating them cleanly. When it comes to guys on his level, he should be cheating, but when he finally does lose it will be a big deal because fans have not seen him constantly lose. It would also help if you don't have the face get one over on the heel every week either.

In my book, chickenshit heel champions should only apply to smaller guys like Honky Tonk Man, Jericho, and Miz.

Its hard to take it seriously when big guys like Helmsley and Lesnar resort to cheating and running away from babyfaces all the time.

Triple H didn't really run from babyfaces during his initial heel run from 1999-2001, that's why it worked so well.

His 2002-2005 heel run though is criticized for it because it was him being Flair.

The problem with how they book chickenshits these days, is that they have them lose in like every other Raw, so there's never a pay off for the Babyface because the've likely already beaten the champ multiple times before they take his belt.

Plus he lost half of what made him a top in ring worker after that first quad injury. As you said he wanted to be Flair but in reality he's more Arn Anderson, TNA even tried it with AJ Styles and that sucked. The only guy I've seen who has the mannerism's and in ring work to match Flair that's Kazuchika Okada.

HHH was a asskicking heel and looked and acted the part, that's why that 99-01 worked. Since then Lesnar had it and Orton Viper run had it. I miss that asskicking heel who went out and had top matches, held the belt for ages and was just a mean S.O.B.

Closing time. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

In WWE, 99% of them have shitty title runs, face or heel.
