I think there's bigger chance of him facing Okada over Roman Reigns.

Re: Meltzer Believes WWE want CM Punk to return

Punk needs a MMA win or at least a better showing. He should pressure to give him his release where he can then drop to Bellator where they'll feed him a can. Dana White used Punk to hurt wwe and make Mickey Gall, who is probably legit top 20 in the weight class right now. Bellator would rather see Punk successful and make money together - Lashley was babied for years afterall, and still is basically.

If Punk ever wrestles again it will be in NJPW.

Re: Meltzer Believes WWE want CM Punk to return

Punk and AJ are two of the only people who are not reliant on the company in any way shape or form, so of course the company hates them. I'm sure they would bring them back if they were interested, but good luck getting Punk to grovel. Unfortunately there are more than enough people in the company who are willing to toe the line on everything and act as if neither Punk nor AJ accomplished or helped to change anything.

So true. I respect AJ for being about the only past or present women's star who is not drinking the BS koolaid and shilling for this PR campaign masquerading and falsely labeled as a "revolution." She speaks respectfully of the current women but she has no delusions about the phoniness of that company and won't pretend otherwise. She values her husband over a paycheck and the spotlight and fame which comes with it I respect the Hell out of that, and I have a huge problem with the fact that literally NO ONE has said a word about how one of WWE's biggest female stars has been pretty much completely erased from history while they promote this fake "revolution."

WWE would take Punk back in a second.

The ball has always been in Punk's court, and I really don't think he gives two fucks.

Re: Meltzer Believes WWE want CM Punk to return

With Daniel Bryan's contract coming up in late 2018, I had this perverted vision of him basically only agreeing to a long-term WWE contract with some sort of creative role on SmackDown. Basically, in order for the WWE to stop him from wrestling again, they let him run SmackDown the way he wants to run it, with him deferring a lot of the workload to Paul Heyman, who gets a fair amount of autonomy. In this environment, I could see CM Punk making a return. SmackDown would be the "wrestling show" without a doubt, and run like ROH/New Japan took over the blue brand.

I don't know why I think that has a chance of happening, but Bryan is probably in a situation where he is a better position than others would be to try and angle himself into some sort of vantage point with WWE. Not necessarily holding them at gunpoint, but essentially saying "If I'm going to stay out of the ring, I need to be involved in the wrestling product somehow, and this is my grand idea -- give it a shot and I'll stay."

Weirder things have happened, I assure you.

Yeah, they want him back that's why they were so pissed especially Vince when Rock mentioned and call Punk in the middle of the ring even though it didn't air on TV.
