If his UFC thing totally flops, and he really wants to get back into wrestling, I can see him going to Japan but not the WWE.

WWE can eat their hearts out.
The UFC thing has flopped, it's over nobody not even bellator will book him in a fight going forward.

Not sure why a guy nearing 40 and beat up physically would go to Japan where his biggest strength (his ability to cut promos) would be pretty much useless.

Not sure if punk will ever return pro wrestling but if he did wwe is the only place given he has history, ready made money feuds and could work a part-time schedule for a ton of money.

Meltzer believes the sky is blue.

Personally, as a big CM Punk fan, hope he goes to NJPW and ROH for a while, then comes back to WWE to have a proper send off.

But I don't think wrestling is on his mind anymore... He may comeback for a promo and HOF induction, but I don't believe in a new CM Punk match.

Of course they want him back and of course he WILL comeback someday. dude's 38, he's got like 10 full years to comeback. He will return as a part-timer and have a feud or 2, main event a Wrestlemania and retire for good.

Punk WILL BE back in WWE one day. They all come back. It's only a matter of time.

Anyone who thinks Punk won't is lying to themselves

You think Vince wants Punk to be part of njpw's American expansion in anyway. Of course not, they will make alot of interesting decisions the next few years to thwart that.

Re: Meltzer Believes WWE want CM Punk to return

Punk has heat with Triple H and his ego though, so there's that hindering it. Plus, a lot of Punk's "cool factor" comes from his perception as a guy who stands up for himself and calls out the shit. If he signed on the dotted line and dropped all grievances, then I'm sure a lot of people would feel betrayed by the CM Punk brand, and that's ultimately what Punk is trying to sell. Unless Punk returns as a heel. In which case, I'd be for it, even though I don't really miss Punk and don't feel that it would really move the needle. It would certainly be "hot," don't get me wrong, but what does Punk's name really mean outside the business? He's created a stir before though, so maybe Punk returning as a renegade railing against the goody-goody WWE would get attention. I don't know -- I'm not completely sold on the idea, because Punk doesn't come cheap.

Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk for the Universal Title in the main event of WrestleMania sounds good at this point in time, however. And let's be honest -- Punk is not doing this for anything less than a main event.

I honestly think it's more likely we get him in New Japan. At least for a limited run.

Re: Meltzer Believes WWE want CM Punk to return

I've said it all along that from WWE's side, there's no reason they wouldn't allow Punk back.

Punk didn't really do anything wrong to WWE. Certainly nothing on the level of past guys who left WWE on bad terms, and later came back.

Hogan
Hart
Warrior
etc

All had worst beef with McMahon than Punk does.

Flipside is - Punk is very pissed at WWE. That might be enough to make this return never happen - or maybe not. I don't know him well enough to be able to say. If it was me - i think he should suck it up, and treat business as business. If he can make a good, lucrative business deal, do it and dont let personal feelings cloud things up.

From a fan perspective.

Remember when CM Punk did his Pipe Bomb and that whole "summer of Punk"...? They could do that again but actually book a storyline worthy of such a hot angle. The bitter employee who left, comes back as a hero, has the fans on his side........so much potential to make for great tv if done right.
