Can you people STFU about 'fat' wrestlers?

In the same breath you complain about how everyone is boring, with no characters and nothing to differentiate them. I LONG for the day when there is some variety of body types and character back in the WWE. That includes the women. Thank God for Nia Jax.

The same people complain about vanilla midgets, yet you get someone who's not a midget, you bitch.

You get someone who is jacked on roids like Jinder, you bitch.

You get someone who is small and yet muscular like Balor or Neville, you bitch.

Now there's people bitching about Big Cass calling him fat. Some of the legends of the industry were fat. Look at these tubbos, yet they ALL had a great role as a wrestler:

The industry would not be where it is today without them.

Ok I hate fat wrestlers who aren't intimidating. They're the worst. Them and short guys is what's wrong about the wrestling business today.

I'm a tall guy, I've been overweight, I've been muscular, I've been skinny. I know that it is not that much work to get in shape and if my livelihood depended on going to the gym 4 times a week and eating right, trust me, I would be in shape all year.

A guy like Damien Shadow...what is his problem? It's his job to be in shape. He's been in the business forever and he's still not in good shape.

Just wanted to point out that the wrestler who most wrestlers of the 60s, 70s and 80s consider to be the greatest ring worker of all time is this guy:

This is actually a picture of him when he was in good shape. Ray Stevens was not a chiseled physical specimen, he was not an intimidating monster and he wasn't a sideshow. What he was was a master of every aspect of being a wrestler. Technical ability, ring work, psychology, and, most importantly, putting an ass every 18 inches. His smoothness was unparalleled and his ring movement was poetry in motion.

Dick Murdoch, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Ted DiBiase, Dory Funk Jr., Harley Race, Mick Foley and Jerry "The King" Lawler are other examples of guys who would be considered "fat", "pudgy" or "out of shape" wrestlers in the eyes of fans today. They're all legends who were fantastic ring workers(not technicians per se, there's a difference) who made tons of money in the industry.

If a guy can work and draw money it doesn't matter what he looks like. Give me Kevin Owens, Mick Foley or Ray Stevens over Matt Morgan, Mason Ryan or Jessie Godderz any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Jax and Joe look just about fine, but fat KO and Cass look pathetic.

It's not about extra kilos, it's about how they look overall. Grado looks more credible than Owens.

It's all about fitting the gimmick. Henry, Big Show and Yokozuna were intimidating monsters. Samoa Joe is fat but he looks like a total badass. Owens looks like a overweight high school kid who doesn't fit his gimmick. Either become more intimidating by losing fat, gaining muscle and change your voice tone or change to a dance comedy gimmick, because right now I'm not buying you despite people here overrating your mic and ring skills.

And OP, you listed one great wrestler in your post. WTF are you on about?

Not here to pick on Owens but just going to use him as an example.

I think the thing for me is that Owens is overweight, but he is not actual a massive person. Guys like Earthquake, Vader, Yoko were much bigger than someone of Owens size so could be looked at as something of a spectacle and to have legit strength etc. With Owens, he is neither tall or particularly massive. He just looks like an average joe who is overweight.

Also, I think people are making the mistake of thinking that just because someone is bigger than normal but doesn't have a defined muscular look is "fat". I would not consider Stan Hansen "fat". He was an absolute beast and if I had to pick someone to be in my corner I would pick a Stan Hansen over a Kevin Owens any day of the week (and twice on Sundays).

some people look intimidating with that extra mass (Mark Henry, Yoko, etc) but the problem is since wrestlers aren't allowed to use as much gear any more, you get people like Baron Corbin who have absolutely no muscle mass and are 25% bodyfat.

Fat wrestlers will never break the glass ceiling anyway.

Think about the AE, the only fat wrestler that have a main event run with the WWF championship was Mick Foley and even as a two time champion he didn't held the title for more than 30 days.

I don't consider Mark Henry a fat wrestler because let's be real just look at him and compare him to Kevin Owens. I compare them because since Mick Foley the only guys who can be classified as "fat" and have received a main event run has been Henry and Owens.

People don't want to hear this but nobody roots fot fat guys, it's the true.

The only fat guy I saw in the Spiderman movie was his nerd friend that was used as comic relief.

With the women is the same: nobody will go to see a Wonder Women movie starring Melissa McCarthy.

Mainstream wrestling is after all part of the entertainment business.

That doesns't mean that "fat" guys will never be pushed but don't expect the company to elevate him to the same status The Shield guys have.

Im not anywhere near hung up on body physique as some but personally, I think Cass losing the body fat and getting toned (not even "ripped") would work largely in his favor. I know it's not easy given their schedule and I'm not asking for him to look like Jinder, but adding some definition and trimming the body fat % would only raise his stock in Vince's eyes. Half the battle in adding definition is simply cutting fat and doing moderate lifting. I worked overnight stocking at Sams for extra money during my freshman and sophomore year in undergrad. I was already slim but didn't have much definition to speak of. Six months of lifting minuscule 20 - 60 pound boxes and I was solidly toned and had significant vascularity due to the weight loss. It makes a world of difference.

If I could do that as a broke undergrad simply by picking up boxes for six to eight hours four times a week, I think a guy like Cass can just by spending an hour on the weights and watching his calories a bit, as hectic as his schedule may be. It won't ensure you stay over with management or get over with fans but you should take every edge you can get backstage if you know the boss is already somewhat in your corner. I'm all for diverse builds in any case. I have no qualms over a guy like KO's weight. I don't believe it does anything positive for him in management's eyes if he sheds 25 pounds. He isn't very tall and he wrestles in gym shorts, so imo the weight works in his favor.
