Wrestling has its cycles, just like any other business. Until they can find that next star that transcends the industry and relates to the casual fan, wrestling will not be cool in the eyes of the mainstream. And that should be OK.

It seemed to work out better when Vince showed he didn't care about being mainstream. That was evident during the Attitude Era, and it showed in what he produced. Not to mention folks like Hogan, Savage, Austin, and the Rock could get those casual fans to watch. Cena didn't quite match that level, and I don't really see anyone on the current roster that can do that either.

You need to be yourself, you can't be no-one else.

when you think about it, if another promotion did come up somewhere such as a new WCW, would wwe be even in a position to overhaul themselves to compete? youve got shareholders that likely get some kind of say, youve got sponsors that you will lose if they went more adult friendly.

could be more of a case that if the monday night wars happened again, wwe would just get crushed, its a good job wwe are top of the tree because they couldnt compete with their current creative or star power.

again though, the loss of WCW was the worst thing to happen to wrestling, its likely the biggest reason why the boom period well and truly ended, vince winning sealed his own defeat tbh.

Not until the current fan base stop being the skid marks on society.

The product itself also needs to improve, but wrestling fans on the whole are much more deplorable and stigmatised than the WWE itself.

No one likes kiddy shit. Disney went awol until it started making more adult oriented movies. The lesson is, you can still put out edgier content without being a sadist. There is quality characters to sell to the masses, the "Bullet Club" is exactly what would sell in Western World if put on a wide view audience.

I think Smackdown is the route to go. If I say, "come over for 3 hours for RAW", people are like FNK Dat....especially on afucking Monday Night, especially during Football Seasons.

WWE needs a Saturday or Sunday night show, that is more provocative. ROH would be perfect, but people generally don't gather to watch basic television. I think if NXT was put on every Sunday on Netflix, people would eat it up. Hulu is where I watch it often but not everyone is a Hulu person.

You know how most years, WWE coasts until they get to Mania season, and then they put in a solid effort Jan-April? If WWE put that effort and energy in to the majority of their shows throughout the year, like they did in the Hulkamania era, like they did in the Attitude Era/Monday Night Wars, I think you'd see a spike in mainstream acceptance.

It's hard for me right now, everything's so stale and lifeless. I was just at Mania 33 and that was great, but the creative energy from the writers and bookers, and even the energy from the talent seems a bit lacking. I haven't been able to watch a full episode of Raw or SD for a couple of weeks now. I'll tune in for Takeover and Backlash but yeah. I've been watching almost 20 years and given WWE a lot of my money. If current WWE can't hold MY interest, how are they going to attract new viewers? And really, WWE don't seem that interested in attracting new viewers. As long as they can hold steady, it's all good. That hunger seems to have gone.
