Re: Damn it, this company needs better finishers for it's talent...
Finishers just hit a wall. There's only so many people that can use a DDT, cutter, reverse STO, faceplant whatever. Then we got all the weird 90s slams where complexity = death. Now it's strikes and submissions.
Curb Stomp was legit one of the best finishers I've ever seen. It was unique yet made sense, combined a strike and a slam, believable knock out move, and had the flexibility to do it to anyone and through anything. The spear has a similar upside but it's just been beaten to death by every hack wrestler since 1998.
It's tough because all the good ideas have either been taken or aren't strong enough to be finishers anymore, so it's copy the old shit, have a lame "this time he hit him REALLY hard!" finish, or make them tap out in a company where tapping out makes you a pussy.
Rollins needs Curb Stomp back. I hate his pedigree.
Coup de Grace looks weak. Bálor is like a twig.
Dirty Deeds actually is great because it brings back the DDT.
AJ's set is fine.
Roman needs to only use the spear, drop the Superman punch nonsense.
Orton has been complacent since 'RKO outta nowhere took off'. His entire moveset sucks
Sister Abigail sucks
KO's finisher works
The women need an overhaul. Naomi needs to pick a finisher that is anything but "I think she calls it the Rear View". I don't like that reverse STF. I liked her split-leg moonsault. Call it something flashy. Natural Selection is weak. Bayley-to-Belly sucks. Sasha needs an impact finisher when she doesn't use Bank Statements. Whatever it is call it the Overdraft Fee.
I can understand why they want to ban the Curb Stomp. I can imagine kids trying to emulate it, and really killing someone with it.
Rollin's Pedigree is just embarrassing to watch. He should look for another finisher. I think he should do Cody Rhodes' Dark Matter move. Rollins can pull it off perfectly and the turnbuckle bomb can set it up.
Balor's finisher looks like it's going to give him a broken ankle or a serious leg injury if he keeps using it.
Roman's spear is terrible.
Orton should sporadically use the kick to the head finisher to keep it fresh in people's minds.
LMAO to be fair though Trips has had those moments too. I think the problem with the Pedigree is sometimes guys don't want to take it they way it should be taken.. not that I can blame them, it probably hurts like hell.
I mean this is probably the most extreme pedigree ever..
That's how you take a pedigree... But that's Foley lol
I think Kane's a good example of how not to take a pedigree
he lands on his knees his head clearly never hits the matt, it just looks kinda silly lol
But back to the OP it's been said in this thread and it's been said all over the boards the biggest problem with finishers is every wrestler on the roster, short of James Elsworth, kicks out of them.
You can't really expect every wrestler to invent a brand new never before seen finisher. Wrestling's been around so long, pretty much every move has been used as a finisher, it's hard to find cool new moves and when you do see one it's usually a variation of another move or at least can be boiled down to a variation of another move. The RKO is the Diamond Cutter is the Ace Crusher. As much as I love the One Winged Angel it's an Electric Chair into a Michinoku Driver again I love the move but that's basically what it is
I'm not saying there are no more finishers left, time to stop watching, I think I'm saying you gotta make your finisher unique and different so that it stands out even if it's been used before... at least I think I'm trying to say that... this post kinda turned into a rant lmao.
