Same, seems like a lot of people here care about his ratings more than he does. I just read them and move on. I never cared much for rating something with stars tbh.

Giving the match 6 stars like he did was a bit much. Great match but sometimes I feel his ratings are more to get people talking these days than anything else.

little things took me out of it if im honest, im conditioned to see a tombstone piledriver as a finisher for example not a sequence move

Re: Meltzer's Ratings

I heard Dave a few months ago say he does his ratings on first view these days with very little thought about them, because he has so much to watch and cover he doesn't go back and replay them.

Re: Meltzer's Ratings

His ratings wouldn't be so bad if he didn't conflate enjoyment with critique of the match.

Some matches can be 3 stars but have 5 star enjoyment.

4 star and above should be for things that are both sound ring wise and great enjoyment wise.

Re: Meltzer's Ratings

Personally, I can't make a judgement on a match without Meltzer's star ratings. He's the expert not me. I can't respect anyone who enjoys a match that he rated below 4****.
At this point I enjoy his podcast more than any of the WWE product. Bryan Alvarez's voice

Re: Meltzer's Ratings

The important thing to remember with his ratings is that they are his opinion in the moment. The ratings can change if he watched the same match a year later.

Re: Meltzer's Ratings

He's no more an authority of how good a match is than me or you. I've heard people say that if Meltzer rates a match a 3 or lower that they won't go watch it. lol Give me a break, make your own damn opinion and go watch things. The whole star rating thing is dumb to me anyway.
