WWE UK Tournament

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting the talents involved in the upcoming WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament signed one-year deals worth 16,000 (approximately $20,000).
Its a great deal for WWE at this salary figure. That pretty much is downside for the talent as they get to work RevPro, Progress, and the like live events where they can charge their own fees. For WWE, the talent itself doesn't even cost half a mil for the year for a tv show they would likely tape 3-4 episodes of at a time. The indy companies will pay the guys well because they are "WWE talents"

Re: WWE UK Championship & new WWE UK Wrestling weekly show - WWE press conference in London

Watching the UK Championship preview promo thingy on the Network (is the tournament really this weekend?! Out of nowhere!) I’ve actually really found my hype back. Yeah some of the statements were ironic, some arrogant and overall it was very jingoistic but as someone in the UK myself and a fan of WWE I can really get behind the idea of a Talent program which picks up UK prospects and fast tracks them to main roster WWE. Despite our importance in the wrestling world, we don’t really have much of a presence in WWE and it would be really nice to see an invasion of young blood over the next ten years that sees the future of WWE flying a Union Jack. Looking at this roster not as a showcase of UK’s best now but what could be the UK’s finest in the future under WWE’s tutelage actually makes it all easier to swallow.

I also talking about wrestling on my Twitter if you want to follow me or whatever...
