I miss Victoria, she was cool.

Because the people in charge were sexist. Women weren't respected at all. Even a chance to steal the show was seen as more than they deserved.

Hiroshi Tanahashi/Kazuchika Okada/Minoru Suzuki/Daniel Bryan/Asuka

Samoa Joe/Tetsuya Naito/Tomohiro Ishii/Meiko Satomura/Jay White

You'd think right? but that wasn't the case.

"(Melina and I) got in trouble for our match at Night of Champions 2009, for our match being quote-on-quote, 'too good for girls'. I don't care how much I get in trouble if that's what I'm getting in trouble for. It started where I dropped kicked her, on her split-entrance, to the mat - crazy, crazy bump - which she was always game for. The crazier, the better! We always worked well with each other, always wanted to come up with something different; some new way to come out of her moves, get into one of my moves, something you don't always see the girls do", McCool said.

"It was that day (at the Pay-Per-View) I was like, 'could you not tell anybody, but do you think we could do a DDT on the barricade?' Not even thinking twice about it, Melina agreed. We hid it all day, even though we did ask our agent for approval, I think it was Fit - which is no secret that he was always fighting for the girls. She was the one who was going to take the huge bump, and there was no doubt, no hesitation, that she would make it look ridiculous - and it did! (During the match) She finally takes the bump, it looks sick, pops off - up to that point, that was the best match I've ever had. We had the pay-per-view, we had time, I was really proud of that match.

When I got to the back, they didn't even care. When I told Jonny that I quit I told him, 'You guys don't even care about the women. I just rolled out of the battle royal and nobody noticed.'. He just laughed

That is such Bullshit. If they really were against women's wrestling then why even have a Women's division at all?

Re: The Women's division had so much great potential after Trish/Lita left

I've seen those Gail/McCool comments before, it just boiled down to WWE fundamentally not thinking the women were worth their time. I don't think they had anything against anyone personally. It was a company philosophy. The UFC changed that way of thinking completely. Now I'm pretty sure the WWE actually sabotages their own men because they want Sasha/Charlotte to look better

I don't really have sympathy for Gail, she knew what the WWE was when she resigned with them. She knew what would happen to her. I was glad she quit the way that she did though, that was really funny because she's right, it's not like anyone watching at the time actually noticed she eliminated herself. That's how little it mattered.

This short 5min video, you saw the set up of Maria/Melina.. loved how Melina called her a bitch and slapped the shit out of her, love what Victoria was wearing coming out to watch the match, loved what happened after with Lilian/Mickie/Victoria.
It was good, the crowd was into it, had tons of potential.

For some reason WWE shat completely on that era, providing us with many matches as short and as bad the one with Maria/Melina here, pushing talents like Ashley Massaro into 2 consecutive WM shows, 3-5min segments per 2h RAW, Santino Marella with Beth and then as Santina.
You had hot girls that could wrestle and talk like Mickie/Melina/Victoria, You had Beth Phoenix one of the strongest and most unique female wrestlers ever..

I will never understand why these girls couldn't get 10-15min a show, they all seemed to have something unique, Jillian with the singing too was a great heel magnet and could wrestle.. I feel like this era was a missed opportunity.
Melina/Mickie/Beth were great to lead the division, with supporting cast like Maryse/McCool/Katie Lea/Natalya/Jillian/Victoria/Gail and jobbers like Maria/Ashley/Bellas/Kelly.

Maybe after Candice Michele failed to become the Next Trish, Vince said fuck it and didn't invest in the women's division anymore.
Say what you want about Melina and whatever problems she had that she may have brought on herself, but she had the potential to be much bigger than she was. I think she would have been a much bigger star if WWE had actually invested in women at the time.

there were some good things for sure. It was also one of the most promiscuous era... or at least an era that a lot of stuff came out; Victoria, Maria, Melina, Beth, Mickie, etc.
