Re: Did Shaq prove that WWE Themes are awful?

They all should go back stock music. The Attitude Era and New Generation Era before it had mostly stock music.

It wasn't until WWF blew up big in the late part of the Attitude Era and big as in mainstream media was now focusing on Pro-Wrestling (which they don't do at all today) is when their use of mainstream music for wrestlers began to get mixed in and it worked.

But honestly, at WWE stage today, nothing can save their sinking ship.

Re: Did Shaq prove that WWE Themes are awful?

I was just thinking about how much better themes were back in the day. So many generic sounding ones now but it seemed like everyone from Funaki to Stone Cold had tracks that embodied who they were as characters. Gangrel had a better theme song than 99% of the guys currently in the main event today, and he was a lower mid-card guy at best!

I've always wanted Triple H to come out to "My Time" just once more for nostalgic purposes. It fit his early run as the entitled, arrogant, leather jacket wearing asshole jock image perfectly and should have been the theme he used back at the Rumble in January. Had the absolute perfect hint of rebellion and scumbaggery. When Christian split from Edge, his theme "At Last" was perfect. It was as obnoxious as he was, and it made you hate him. Just embodied the character. WCW had some great ones too though theirs were often modeled after already famous tracks. Personal favorite of mine was Ravens theme which I think mimics the melody of Nirvanas' 'Come As You Are'

It really fit his pretentious, emo disposition and complex character. Bray reminds me a lot of Raven. Occasionally WWE strikes gold when it comes to themes (Sheamus' theme for his recent heel run was excellent) but The Shield guys could have gotten so much better. Shame they wasted Drew McIntyre's theme on him because that track would have been perfect for the returning Rollins.

CFO$'s themes are really hit or miss. That being said, I wish they'd use more stock music, since a lot of guys have really forgettable and indistinct themes.
