Re: So Jericho is truly the best at what he does?
He was my favorite growing up. One of the best in an age of big name performers. He could hang with technical guys, like Malenko and Benoit. He could fly high, like the Hardys. He could legitimately stand opposite the Rock, HHH, Austin, etc... and fit the role. Compete verbally with the Rock and the McMahons.
Then he came back in 2008 and really was the best in the world - taking character work and psychology to a new level with Michaels. His Punk feud was damn good too. A good heel uses that personal stuff for maximum effect.
His babyface stuff floundered. He came back as a nostalgia act. He'd put someone over and leave. But he's in a long-term feud with a great performer and able to work heel, which usually give us his best work. He's slower in the ring, but he's good at picking his spots and can still hang with today's super-athletes.
Fozzy isn't well-known or a hit. But they sell a decent amount of records, play many major festivals/shows, and he's tight with lots of people who ARE big in the industry. They're the Stardust of rock. Lower-midcard act but on one of the biggest stages (Stardust being WWE over indies and Fozzy being Rock on the Range, Download, etc...).
Acting has been lame. Internet shorts. TV guest spots. DWTS. - better than nothing. But he's no movie star. Lots of aspiring actors would kill for what Jericho has had, though.
Talk is Jericho nails a lot of big-name guests and generates a ton of views. He's had millions of downloads/views since starting the show. I don't know how it all works out per-episode, but it's still pretty impressive.
He's not the best at what he does in any specific attribute. But he's the best Jack of All Trades you can hire.
Enough of big slow guys, 'da look,' and goofy catchphrases. Hated the Rock, Austin, etc... then. Hate Cena now.
Much respect for CM Punk, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Seth Rollins, Eddie Guerrero, Daniel Bryan, John Morrison/Johnny Mundo, Adrian Neville, Antonio Cesaro, Tyson Kidd, and all of the other "Vanilla Midgets" who make these shows worth watching.
