Why do fans fall for 'tweets'

we see wrestlers on RAW and know that their promos are all scripted. So whatever these wrestlers are saying is coming from cue cards... no one falls for it - it's just acting. Old news.

So why do fans fall for these "tweets" that wrestlers put out? What's the difference? Whether it's on RAW or on Twitter - it's all the same horseshit.

The WWE has stormed into social media because they know that's where their fans are. They want a presence on Twitter, etc. So instead of a wrestler doing a promo and bullshitting their audience on RAW, they bullshit their audience on Twitter.

But it seems everyone takes these tweets as if they were real.

Why?

Re: Why do fans fall for 'tweets'

It's more legitimate and therefore easier to believe that what they're seeing is real, which people want.

They seem to be speaking in their own words (albeit in character) so it comes across as less scripted. Plus, sometimes they seem to be punished or told to delete inappropriate tweets, so you can believe it's really them.

I'm sure they'll get better at manipulating social media, but in this infancy stage it doesn't seem as tightly controlled as what they're scripted to say on the mic.

Re: Why do fans fall for 'tweets'

Sometimes wrestlers do say stupid shit on twitter that they shouldn't be saying and then end up deleting it afterwards. So what do you mean by, "Why do people fall for it?".

Are you one of those people who think everything in wrestling is a work? I bet you're still waiting for Benoit to make his surprise appearance in the rumble.

The reason we keep watching is to one day see if it will reach that potential or a level near it. We don't necessarily want the Attitude Era to return, but we want the excitement and the crave to watch more and the need to see what happens next which the Attitude Era brought us.

Sometimes it feels like the workers actually tweet real things....but normally stay in character....and just create hype.

Re: Why do fans fall for 'tweets'

Same reason wrestling fans fall for real angles. When wrestlers get real heat its the exact same. Its trolling that pisses you off.

Kevin Owens can't block people in real life. He's the Internet Heavyweight Champion for a reason. Dude has mad keyboard skills.

Type Owens Type.
