Even Steve Austin wasn't a success until he became Stone Cold, so it's kind of unfair to judge the Undertaker and credit his success solely on his gimmick.

He was talented enough to make the gimmick work, a gimmick which would have probably been a disaster with someone else playing it.

Honestly, I'm not sure. He was always freakish athletic for his size, but the Taker gimmick, and Paul Bearer, really hid the fact that he was pretty damn mediocre on the mic..And I think I'm being nice.
