His gimmick does need adjustment right now, it's getting very stale.

My brother described him rather well the other day as being " Like a character an 8 year old would make on WWE 2K"

If that's the case, Wyatt should start kidnapping all the stale and boring fuckers and have them come back with new gimmicks and gear.

Re: Does Ryback's gimmick need a complete change?

In one one word, yes.

"The Ryback"

I have said it over and over again. Ryback is not specific enough. It's a solid name that I got used to and then realized it's being said the wrong way. Changing the name allows for the viewer that he is the only one of his kind. I realize this sounds far off, but think about it. He needs announced to the ring as "The Ryback". I don't think Lilian Garcia will do. "The Ryback" name when announced has to come off as non-human almost. It's like saying release "The Kraken". Release "The Ryback" has the same feel to it.

Personal announcer

One of the only things I liked about Alberto Del Rio was his ring announcer. I don't think any old person will do. This is one of those things where I would love to see "The Fink" back just to announce "The Ryback", but that will never happen. Vince McMahon and Heyman would be a close second, but that will never happen either. I'm certain the WWE could find someone that has the voice to announce "The Ryback". A personal ring announcer is something that he needs because it's just another thing to add to his lack of charisma and character.

The Entrance

This is half of the project if you think about it. I certainly think the music he has now is okay, but it's not memorable. As of right now Ryback just comes down to the ring and there is really no theatrics to it at all. Why not have him come from beneath the stage slowly. A pit of fire and smoke shoot into the air and out comes the chained beast from beneath the Raw stage. Music has to draw the viewer and I wouldn't mind a siren going off like in Sabbath's "War Pigs" and in fact his song should resemble Black Sabbath's "War Pigs". There should be smoke, fire, and loud explosions like a war is going on. He should have a towel over his head like Taz used to do.

The attire/look

Ryback is one of the few stars that looks the part. However, right now he looks like a complete tool. Go with the traditional trunks, boot, knee pads etc. Grow out a full beard and possibly cut hair into mo-hawk. Simple, black, trunks with his name on the front, or back. Perhaps using a similar skull design as the comic character Punisher to represent "The Ryback". Make it red, or dripping blood just to throw off exact replication. Make him look intimidating.

Overall Character

Right now we get things like "Feed me more" and "The Big Guy". These are awful lines. We don't want a character like his who already has a tough time talking, talking. There is supposed to be a level of mystery surrounding a certain percentage of stars, The Ryback should be one of those stars. "The Ryback" should speak in 3rd person just like The Rock would do. No, he won't deliver Rock like promos, but that isn't the point. Speaking few words and then speaking 3rd person gives off more character. His words should only be words associated with pain, destruction, and total domination.

Plot that leads to character change

I don't believe one should just show up with a totally new character. Things just don't happen over night. The WWE has it's ups and downs with this process. I think with Ryback it should be done properly. Have him eliminated off of television and of course by the Wyatt Family, more specifically Luke Harper. I think a feud between these two would be perfect down the line. The Wyatt Family putting stars on the shelf is nothing out of the ordinary. Ryback is finally "Fed more" and it ends up destroying him. Wyatt tells the world that Ryback was full of "gluttony" and so his sins had to be destroyed.

Take a page from NXT and give Ryback some video footage building his return. Again The Ryback speaks in 3rd person even in the vignettes. Build his return so that the viewer gets the impression that something has changed. Without setting the viewer up for character progression you'll never know if that star could ever be "over". You can't just throw people out there and expect the fans to eat them up with a reaction. Change has to be slowly prepped for. It's an insult to the viewer when you don't give him anything to appreciate other than just a debut. Get their feet wet.

The perfect surprise feud for Ryback would definitely be Steiner

This sounds pretty awesome. I know a lot of people hate Ryback, but he has a good presence in the ring and can look better with some improvements here and there.

Re: Does Ryback's gimmick need a complete change?

Like most the roster he has no gimmick. He is a dude who "wants to prove he is the best". Indy BS.

Current top 3:
1, Roman Reigns - THE GUY
2, Seth Rollins - The unbeaten champion
3, Kevin Owens

All time favorites:
1, Stone cold
2, HHH
3, Kevin Nash

Re: Does Ryback's gimmick need a complete change?

The general idea of being a raging nutso Ultimate Warrior type isn't a problem. It's all the terrible catchphrases, scripting, and branding that are the problem.

You spent a lot more time on this than anyone in WWE creative has spent on Ryback.
