If John Cena was no longer main event material by 2014, should he have had a gimmick change?....
...to that of a totally snarky, short-tempered heel holding the WWE United States Championship who would at least talk tough and threaten to end the careers of Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Damien Sandow, Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Braun Strowman, Sami Zayn, Daniel Bryan, Big Show, Kane, Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E Langston, pretty much all of which make up the vast majority of WWE's main roster talent who will each get an opportunity to have their way with Cena in matches where Cena may gladly take bumps as that heel character.
Like so many IWC anti-Cena smarks have said, a possible Cena heel turn would not have an effect on whether WWE would go from PG to TV-14 since today's society teaches WWE fans not to like violence. Now WWE's got bottom-tier sponsorship deals, so going PG wasn't exactly the best idea in retrospect to begin with.
We might even get some better promos from a heel Cena which may involve him saying to the crowd and Seth Rollins "Even though you [Seth Rollins] messed my face up, doesn't mean your knees aren't open for business." instead of a plucky-eyed superman face Cena cracking lame jokes that even 8-year-olds cringe at.
