Punk wasn't that good on mic as many make him out to be

Just watched this promo between Hunter and Punk. Punk constantly changing topics when getting cornered by the Game. Coward ass hole brings Ice cream bars and Cena and other shit that doesn't even matter. What a load of crap this guy is. Thank GOD the quitter left the WWE. WWE is so much better without the whining bitch that call himself CM Punk.

Yes. Yes he was.
where were these so called Pipe bombs when Punk was given not one but two MITBs and then two Title runs. Punk was average Joe when it came to his mic abilities. His heel turn was the only thing that made his promo interesting. Punk was at best a fucking whining bitch

Yeah. He always did come off like a pretentious, self entitled douche that tried to appeal to smarks. Which is fine for a heel but doesn't demand very much likability as a face. I never really understood the hype with him.

He was very pivotal in the advent of the people seeing smaller indie guys as main event players as he was the one who broke the glass ceiling. But that apparently is to many fans detriment judging from some places.

Many guys the size of punk don't get so many opportunities unless they prove their worth but Punk had so much support to begin with! it's just hilarious that he can blame the machine even a little bit for his inability to get over despite the rocket which was strapped on his back. Punk got the mid-card titles, money in the banks and even a WHC but he failed. It was only when he turned heel that he began to find success, him blaming the machine is funny; heck Bryan has every right to given how he was screwed again and again but has he ever complained like Punk? and Punk actually got support from the WWE.

lets just accept that Punk pipe bombs were actually Punk whining like a bitch and nothing more.

He was always in control, you believed what he said, and he was quick too. But looking back, he relied too much on the shock factor.

He was better than many make him out to be.

Punk was one of the smoothest and dramatic talkers in history of pro wrestling, you won't find too many people with his ability to make anything serious and interesting.

IMO Punk is probably top 3 mic workers of all time.

Who in the AE was better than Punk? If The Rock who is considered by many the greatest talker of all time looked out of the place against him when they went face to face on their feud in 2013.

How does it feel to be completely, objectively wrong OP?

Also :ti at forgetting about his other work even before the pipebomb.
the only other thing that Punk did besides turning heel and getting the crowd behind him was his Straight Edge Society gimmick. Punk was a failure besides these two gimmicks. He whines and cries that he wasn't treated fair. Daniel Bryan has been robbed more than Punk can count. Do you hear him crying and whining in the ring!???

Punk pretty much made anyone with a mic at the time can't even be compared to him, he spoke his mind and told the truth because at the time the company needed something to fall back on besides having Cena at the top as usual.

Getting his story out there. Duh :chan
if you call getting his story out there by whining and bitching and whining and bitching and whinging then I think you know who was manipulating everyone all these years :draper2

I think Punk was and is overrated but to say WWE's better with him gone is just asinine. WWE misses him, sorely.

I disagree. If he had the right story, there was a realness about his promos which made it work for him, much like it did for Stone Cold or Bret Hart in 1997. He was quite good on the mic in my opinion.

I do agree that he dropped the ball in his feud with Triple H. There was this growing resentment between wrestling fans and the WWE and he had ample material to work with, but instead he wasted it on ice cream bars and the same tired Stephanie jokes. Triple H didn't help him either, but it's not an excuse and CM Punk dropped the ball here.

I never saw Punk before 2012 except the pipebomb promo but I can say I was never impressed with his promos. It was probably the content or lack thereof; it just seemed like he was whining about the same shit for 20 minutes every week. At a time I was just getting back in wrestling after a decade and was super excited to see every segment, Punk's promos were the only thing I was skipping back then.

Punk has been doing great promos since I first saw him in around 2002. There are things you might be able to criticize him about, but on the mic really isn't one of them. You are entitled to your opinion, but I'd love for you to list all the current WWE performers better on the mic.
:heyman

And that's about it.
