Re: Backstage Notes On The WWE Hell In A Cell Main Event Finish

So let me get this right.

Undertaker throws Mankind off the cell through a table, chokeslams him through the cell into the ring, tombstones him and chokeslams him onto thumbtacks and that's legit.

A sledgehammer shot onto a pile of other stuff that Bray is somewhere beneath is a match stoppage because of excessive violence though.

Uh huh.

Way to ruin Hell in a Cell if now a fucking match stoppage is apparently always an option anyway.

So Seth won by ref stoppage?

This gets even better.

That's dumber than the DQ finish.

Re: Backstage Notes On The WWE Hell In A Cell Main Event Finish

I just posted in another thread about how any attempt to "fix" the main event would just dig a deeper hole... WWe's summary of the match is a perfect example.

The ref stopped the match only for Wyatt to resume the attack? What the fuck?

This is like the "lightspeed bomb" in Star Wars the Last Jedi, it not just shits on itself it shits on everything before and after it.

How did The Fiend get what he came for? Because he beat Seth up? He has been doing that for weeks now, this match was about the title ffs.

This match was never built around ‘Bray wants to win title.’ It was built around Bray wanting to hurt Seth and show him the same pain Bray had felt.

As much as people hated it — and the ending was bad — I think the long-term plan is for Bray to break Seth down mentally. He made him lose his moral compass. I think eventually he takes away the one thing Seth has left when he wins the belt.

Hate the ending, we all do, but don’t act like this angle was about ‘I need a title to put around my waist’ because it wasn’t.

Release the hounds!

It was probably the other way around.

Writer: We can't job out our hottest guy to the champion, we've booked ourselves into a corner.

Vince: We'll just have Seth beat him by referee stoppage then!

Writer: ...okay

Don't do mental gymnastics to defend this booking. Any actual good angle that results from this will be accidental. Having your hottest heel lose like that is asinine.

Mick Foley once said "we don't stop matches in WWE, we just buy time." Had there been a situation where people actually thought Wyatt was hurt, that would be one thing. This was just "throw a bunch of weapons on top of him as a force multiplier" bullshit. Jesus.

Re: Backstage Notes On The WWE Hell In A Cell Main Event Finish

So Brock beating Randy by ref stoppage results in a Brock victory but Seth beating Bray by ref stoppage results in a no contest.

If you are going to incorporate shoot fighting rules into WWE (which you shouldn't because it's stupid) at least be consistent about it.

Iv seen some silly shit but this takes the biscuit. Just ruined both characters and the hell in a cell ppv in one night. Some of the worst booking and writing iv ever seen. Like WCW near the end. Wyatt was booked too strong in this match with like 10 curb stomps kicks out at 1 I mean come on brock lesnar couldn't kick out of a couple! After that there was no way out in the match as they weren't going yo have their current top guy losing not could they have their biggest monster bring pinned. Vince needed to send out someone to interfere anyone sting from the rafters for god sake. How can you ring the bell and not announce the result on the main event. It had to be a dq and that can't happen in a hell in cell. Even more silly when the guy gets up and there's clearly nothing up with him. Thought brock winning in 5 secs was daft thus was crazy! Rollins is ruined as a face after this.
