So...what closes the show?
We already know the top matches of SummerSlam: Brock vs. Orton, Ambrose vs. Ziggler for the WWE World title and Balor vs. Rollins for the WWE Universal title. Add to that Cena vs. Styles and the Women's title rematch, and we have a nice card there.
Problem is, none of these matches really sound like they should be the main event:
- Brock vs. Orton is not even gonna be built up properly because they are on different brands and will never meet face to face before the actual PPV, and it's likely not gonna be longer than 13-15 minutes. Also, a part-timer and a proven PED user main eventing the second biggest show of the year? I wouldn't do it.
- Ambrose vs. Ziggler is for the main title, but this sounds like a filler feud you'd see on a B PPV designed to give Ambrose some more days to his reign and throw a bone to Ziggler. Definitely not main event material.
- Balor has just arrived, and the Universal title is brand new and has no credibility to be the focal selling point of the show. Not something I'd have as my main event.
- Cena vs. Styles is likely going to be the MotN, but it's not for any title so to have it go after two world title matches would be preposterous.
Now, this is probably something they definitely won't do, but I'd put Sasha vs. Charlotte rematch as the main event, in a first ever women's Ladder match. Build it up as a big deal and I'm sure the ladies would deliver a tremendous match. It's in Brooklyn after all, so Sasha might be the most over thing on the entire show.
Thoughts? What do you think main events SummerSlam 2016?
