That's the problem with wrestling these days. Everyone just having matches to have matches. Watching a good match with a story would be better. No one is going to remember this match when it's done. Just like no one remembers the "5 star classic" between Rollins/Styles. Characters and story is everything. They should have built up AJ's heel turn with Ricochet first. Then you give us the first match at the PPV. We already got the top rope Styles Clash, we got the 630 on AJ...they essentially gave away all the spots for the match on RAW. Now we are just watching a repeat.

For example, Aleister Black/Cesaro wouldn't be so intriguing if they had a match last week on SD before he was revealed as the one who knocked.

If the alternative is not having them a match, then I rather them have another one.

They already made one on TV, so that ship has sailed. I won't not care about potentially a good match just because it isn't their first meeting.

Yes, a story is arguably the most important part of a match. Story is lacking in multiple feuds right now, but if that's the case then at least with these two they can actually carry the match with minimal build.

It will be a good match that helps the PPV for sure. AJ's heel turn will help. But me personally, I'm of the old school, I don't want to see championship matches until the time for the actual championship match to come. Not saying that free matches weren't given away on TV back in the day, but its just a lot more prevalent these days and feels lazy. At least back then there was context as to why the match was happening early. Right now they are just doing it just to fill TV time. Then they have them face off again just for the hell of it.
