I think they are all doing well in their respective roles. The problem is that they are all too sexy. It's just not realistic. It seems that the casting department was more interested in casting good looking people than they were in casting good actors. Again, I am not saying the actors are doing a bad job, it's just the fact that when all the actors are pretty, it can be a distraction. Then we get the guest star in the 2nd ep... and guess what, it's another hot babe. When she was talking to Coulson after she had revealed her true colors, we were supposed to be seeing a villain. Instead, all I saw was titties hanging out.

The top 5 reasons for watching this show are Coulson, Coulson, Coulson, Coulson and Coulson. He is excelling in his role. Outside of the pretty factor, I do not hate the rest of the cast. They are doing well enough. The show might be trying to be a little too cutesy to start but I have not as of yet lost faith that they can flesh out these characters.

Part of the problem is that the show is on one of the Big 4. They have certain bullshit standards that must be adhered to. Pretty actors is one of them. Things have to be dumbed down for the sheep. Considering those detriments, they have done well enough to keep me watching. I just really hope they are able to turn this into a good show without relying on the same ol' cliches to get them by.
I'm watching the first episode and everyone being way too pretty, even extra's in the background, is something I've noticed too. It's stupid. For some reason whenever a girl is smart, "savvy", good in combat etc she's incredibly hot. It's obviously nice for eye candy but I can watch porn if I want to, I want realistic stories and good actors.

Oh, and they have the cliche British "nerd".

I'm glad that I'm not the only person who has noticed this.

Episode 2 was just okay, nothing to really discuss and the best part was skye. We will see how it does as time goes on.

Re: Marvel Agents of Shield.

I don't get how everyone looking pretty is making the show worse or better than it would be if the actors were ugly. I haven't had a problem with the actors' acting so far and that's all that really matters. Most actors on shows like this are pretty. People watch pretty people in exciting shows. I don't really see the problem. The chicks kinda need to be hot for the role (ok maybe Simmons doesn't need to be but it doesn't hurt and I wouldn't call her distractingly sexy) because sexy female ass kickers is always a pretty big selling point. Maybe Ward could be scruffier or something but it's so far from one the many issues with the first 2 episodes that it doesn't even register. Ironically I actually think Coulson is the worst acted of the main cast. Haven't seen the Films so maybe film viewers are more attached to him but I kinda hate is forced comedy routines in every scene. All the chicks in Person of Interest are hot too but they're good actors so it's not like they're there because they're just hot.

Marvel's Agents of Shield

I think that it has an Aaron Spelling-esque feel to it. Can definitely see the influence on Joss Whedon in it. Feels like a series of small time adventures. 2 episodes have aired and I haven't seen hints of a long arch yet.
Sam Jackson had a cameo in ep 2. That was cool.

Still not as bad as most of the CW's shows though

I agree with you on the Pretty Actors, But with TV, I expect every Actor on Network TV to be pretty anyway, So I just look past it.
