I enjoyed the pilot well enough. I am being a bit forgiving because creating a decent SHIELD TV show after The Avengers is a tall task. It's got a lot of positives going for it. It's a Whedon TV show. It fits into the continuity of the greatest film series going today. It has in Coulson a major enough character to be the lead without being one of the big time characters from the movies. And I mean, c'mon... who didn't
seeing Bad Robot at the end? It's great seeing that on TV again.
I hope he we get some cameo's from the heroes in the movies in this show.
Actually, I rather hope we don't; unless it's a really, really special occasion. If the show is going to succeed, it needs to stand on it's own merits. It can't come across as a bunch of jobbers doing meaningless stuff because Iron Man/Thor/Cap/Hulk/etc are not around to do it themselves.
FUCK YEAH! Shepherd Book!
My life always feels complete when Joss Whedon has a show on TV.
ed hard when he strolled in the room. Whedon being Whedon, it is expected to see stars from his past shows. It was just as great seeing Charles Gunn too. The sad part is that it doesn't look like we'll be seeing more of him. Book might be a recurring character though. My bet is that they won't be the only two Whedon guys to show up.
At first I was calling bullshit on Coulson being in the show because I HATE death not having any consequences, but they set up a bit of a reveal there for what Coulson really is, so that'll be interesting to see.
Honestly, I never really thought he was dead in the first place. From the moment that Maria called Fury on his BS about the cards, it was always in my thoughts that Coulson was not really dead. It was just Fury being Fury.

Nope. You weren't the only one. As far as that goes, practically every female character that appeared had sexual appeal. Especially Chloe Bennet... dear god, she was so fucking hot it was actually distracting from the show. That's a concern to me. Hey I like hot female characters and all but when they are all hot, it can be casting for looks instead of acting ability. I don't think that right now because they all did okay in the pilot. I just hope that doesn't end up being a problem moving forward.
All in all, I am pleased and I expect things to move uphill. They did a good job with the pilot in setting up the team and establishing who the main characters are going to be. Now that that's out of the way, they can build a good series. I have very high hopes for this.
