'Knives Out' A Rian Johnson Whodunnit (November 27, 2019)

They all have their secrets and their motives. Hell, any of them could have done it.

Acclaimed writer and director Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, The Last Jedi) pays tribute to mystery mastermind Agatha Christie in KNIVES OUT, a fun, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect.

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

With an all-star ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, KNIVES OUT is a witty and stylish whodunit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.

Isn't that what people said after Last Jedi came out

Looks interesting, I'm a bit intrigued.

Love whodunit stuff. I hope it's more of a thriller than a comedy though.

Read that it's extremely political. Reviews seem to confirm that.

Shows attended:
Smackdown 7/19/11
Raw 2/20/12
Elimination Chamber 2/23/14
Raw 10/24/16
Royal Rumble 1/29/17

If it's written/directed by Johnson then I'm not expecting much at all.

This cast is stacked with some of my favorite actors.

Probably won't watch.

If it's inspired by Agatha Christie then this should be played straight. It won't be a comedy, though some parts might be humorous.

When they advertised that it was made by the director of the Last Jedi, I was like how's that a good thing?

Supposedly it's supposed to be highly political, not sure low hanging fruit or what.

It's sitting at 100% on RT while the dave chappelle special has been bombed by critics.. So take that as a sign of what type of political messaging you'll by watching as the majority of reviews are praising it solely for it's political message.

This is a major problem with reviewers today; most aren't actual critics. If something is political and it aligns with their views then it's great. If it's counter to anything they hold dear then it's bad. If something makes them feel bad, ie Dave Chapelle, it's bad. It's pretty crazy from my perspective.

Very few are critics these days. It's all about the feels. This is why I like Armond White. Sure he's trolling at times, nothing wrong with a harmless troll, but he will critique something. White is an old guy though. It's all the young folk that are into the feels. And I'm not saying feels shouldn't matter. They should, but they shouldnt be the sole criteria and I personally don't think they should sway you one way or another as far as appreciating artistry and art. White isn't the only critic of course. There are even some good young film critics out there. They're just the minority.
