We have now officially arrived in 2019 and with that comes a new year of exciting & intriguing movies to look forward to. Which ones have caught your attention?
Here's what I am looking forward to......
Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Quentin Tarantino is one of my all time favourite directors so I'll automatically see anything he makes but the incredible cast he's put together for this period piece has me salivating. And I am also excited & curious to see what his take on the 1960's the film industry and Manson murders will be like.
If you had told me five years ago that I would be excited to see an M. Night Shyamalan (And Bruce Willis for that matter) movie in 2019 I would have thought you were absolutely bonkers
But alas here we are and here I am eagerly counting down the days till I get to see this in the theatre. Split
was a fantastic and unique thriller that brought out an incredible performance from James McAvoy and completely rejuvenated M.Night's career, here's hoping he'll be able to keep the momentum going with this one and actually get Bruce Willis to come alive on screen for a change
And it also doesn't hurt that Sarah Paulson is a part of the cast
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
I mean do I really need to explain this one? That trailer was fucking awesome! I know some people were frustrated with the 2014 Godzilla movie but there more I've watched it, the more I've enjoyed it. Nothing is more exhilarating than getting to witness Godzilla battle on the big screen, it's everything I want in a blockbuster and this looks like it's going to be an orgy of kaiju madness
John Wick 3: Parabellum
He's riding a horse.....JOHN WICK IS RIDING A HORSE IN THE MIDDLE OF NEW YORK! How much more badass than that can you get? I can't wait, I loved both John Wick movies, they've created such an interesting, stylish and slick world about assassin's and gangsters, it's going to be cool to see them expand further upon that and give conclude Wick's story.
I loved Get Out
so naturally I'd be excited for Jordan Peele's next venture but then I saw the Us
That motherfucker made I Got Five On It
I know Rian Johnson is public enemy number one right now after The Last Jedi
but I have been a big fan of his work ever since I saw Brick
. He's such a talented writer/director so when I heard he was going to be making an Agatha Christie type murder mystery I immediately took notice, then I started hearing about the cast he was putting together and I became more and more excited with each casting news. I really hope audiences will give the movie a fair shake instead of holding a grudge against him because of Star Wars.
Last but certainly not least we come to good old Martin Scorsese teaming up once again with Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel and remarkably working with for the first time in their respective careers Al fucking Pacino! Although I do admit that I am a little nervous about the prospect of CGI being used to make the cast look younger in flashback scenes, Marvel have shown that it can be done but will Marty be able to succeed with the same technique over a two hour running time? I hope so but we'll just have to wait and see.
