Re: Anime Discussion Thread (2019 Edition)

It's Friday people and I hope everyone is having a great one and great Weekend to come for my fellow Anime familia. Watching Dr.Stone and Fire Force which sounds like a name for a Power Ranger team is the perfect way to start off my afternoon after work and do the night cap with some Joshi involving Sendai Girls. Just finished Dr.Stone and I liked it, but I need me some struggle living in this time and world after everyone in the World was turned to Stone. I can deal with the love story, but I need our two Main Characters trying to survive and eventually and possibly breaking from the other who knows. I'm really interested why and how this happened out of no where, should be a very interesting Anime for me to keep watching.

Fire Force Episode 1 was amazing. I love the Animation style and the I'm digging the team so far. Shinra Story is sad and he's going through turmoil everyday of his life and it's going to be a emotional Roller Coaster for all of us watchers.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread (2019 Edition)

I didn't know Fire Force had dropped, I need to get on that. I wish it was easier to find new stuff that drops on CR, without you having to know the specific name of the title first.

I did watch the first episode of that new Sacred Beasts show that dropped earlier in the week. The setting is pretty original, being it is basically the American Civil War in everything but name but the rest of the show is mostly a patchwork of familiar ideas and concepts. The animation was solid but nothing about the construction of the episode was particularly remarkable but it might be mindless fun seeing our werewolf like hero hunting a monster of the week.

Fire force was good but I can’t help to compare with soul eater, but still was a fine first chapter.

Dr stone is interesting but that hairdo is awkward, yugi was one thing but damn...

Re: Anime Discussion Thread (2019 Edition)

Other than some clunky dialogue which may be down to translation issues, Fire Force had one of the best opening episodes of a show I've seen in an extremely long time. I hope the rest of the show is this good.

I was really enjoying The Rising of the Shield Hero until Filo got introduced and it feels like the show has gone down the fucking pan. Is that it now, is this show just gonna be women lusting over Noafumi and love triangle bollocks or do they chill out about this eventually and get on with the show?

Re: Anime Discussion Thread (2019 Edition)

Watched the three currently available episodes of Vinland Saga. Sorta mixed emotions on this, animation is nice (although what was the deal with that chain attack in episode two, was that censored or what?) and the show is moving at a good pace but I also don't really... get the reasoning as to why this exists? I mean it is just an anime version of Vikings or the various other similar shows and not even in like an overtly embellished anime way, so far it seems to be quite restrained and using a lot of historical reference. So I mean sure, why not, but I heard really good things about this before watching it but so far it hasn't shown to have single unique selling point of its own.

The second episode of Fire Force was a shadow of the phenomenal first episode but I am still sticking with it. It has a lot of generic shounen stuff at its core but enough unique dressing over the top to keep it interesting and I assume we get quieter episodes like this to make space for more bombastic episodes like the opening episode of the season down the line and I am fine with this.

I also watched the second episode of that Sacred beasts show or whatever it is called. Still not really sure how I feel about this. The animation is pretty mediocre, the core premise is robust but also mostly uninspired and uninspiring. Plus the tone seems really off, the whole thing has this kinda body horror vibe but I dunno, it feels really goofy in execution. The Infernal's in Fire Force are really harrowing and it just elevates the whole show as a result. Here it should be harrowing with people getting turned into monsters and losing their fucking minds but I dunno, the idea always seems more terrifying than the execution somehow.

Re: Anime Discussion Thread (2019 Edition)

Episode 2 of Dr.Stone brought up a very good question: In a World that everyone is Stone, do we bring back everyone or selected people who are kind hearted, and who will try to turn the World back to where it was? Tsukasa Shishio brought up that question and even though Senku is wanting to bring back everyone, their is also a possibility of the kind hearted people being turned as well. A very great question to explore in this World, to go along with Taiju helping Senku get Calcium Carbonate to get to advancing civilization again. Tajiu not wanting to revive Yuzuriha on the bases that he doesn't want her to be naked is so charm, and him understanding we need brute force right now so my love will have to wait to be relived shows how smart he is in a pinch.

In this Week's Fire Force we got introduced to another Rookie in Arthur Boyle. Arthur and Shinra go way back knowing each other from the Academy and the rivalry still is a thing between the two. You had in this Episode Shinra and Arthur both being very arrogant as members of the Fire Force and Maki putting them in their places in a really funny Scene, and later finding out what it means to be apart of the group and this life with Fire Force. The Scene where the Father who is a Infernal is in obviously pain wanting to rest in peace, while also not passing along anything to his Daughter pulls at your Heart strings. We will see what Captain told them both during the Episode sticks with them, because if not they are going to both be a weaknesses to the team.
