is the anime "case closed" officially dead in the water?

well first off, if anyone ever heard of this show, it was ran on adultswim for a short time in 2004 until nobody watched and did poorly, so they took it off and i put the blame on them showing it at 5 in the morning (no clue why they would show it that late) for it doing poorly.

then they gave it a second chance with just putting it on dvd, again, failed. due to poor sales. then they just gave up on it and never re dubbed any of the episodes.

this is like 5 month old news but funimation (the company that dubbed the show) finally lost its license and no longer own the rights to the show.
so now they don't even have their old episodes on their website anymore which pissed me off cause theres no really other option besides pirating and the dvds ain't cheap with listings of 50 dollars for probably like each season, yeah, fuck that.

any other case closed fans here hoping someone else will pick it up? i don't even care or watch anime but for some reason this show used to get me hooked as a kid.
