Re: Your October movie-binging plans (Halloween month, DUH) Part II: Dead by Dawn

Finished off the Hatchet trilogy today with the third entry. Crowley comes back from the 'dead' and wreaks more gore filled havoc in the swamp. The film certainly keeps moving and has a p.fast pace to it in an Aliens sort of way. Of course it's got kills and gore by the bucket load and it ramps up the kill count in this one. Danielle Harris is back as Marybeth again too.

Sid Haig makes a cameo too and it also features Derek Mears, who played Jason in the Friday the 13th remake, as the leader of a group who come in to finally try and take Crowley down.

Unfortunately, Green and the director miss a trick by having Crowley dispense of him very quickly. It would have been a nice opportunity for them to prolong that little battle in a homage type of way, esp given how many homages, cameos and everything else horror related that's featured in these movies.

The first one is still the best one. Not sure how I'd rank 2 and 3 besides that though. There's fun to be had in them all with the kills and the copious amounts of gore on display. But not much originality after that.

I'll move onto the Victor Crowley movie prob next week, as i want to watch a couple of other horror movies in the meantime.

Watched The Neon Demon today, and have The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, (never watched the two films before btw), It Follows, Martyrs, Onibaba and The Witch lined up for the rest of the week. Hoping to finally do 31 movies this year

Good news is that I already put The Driller Killer on my SLASHER list. Bad news is that I have anti-fun neighbors that would call the cops if they heard you flush the toilet, so playing it LOUD might get me into unwanted legal troubles.

I will have to watch the inferior, moderate volume version just to stay on the safe side.

That kind of censorship is enough to drive any starving artist insane.

I'm still wanting that hardware store slasher film scenario. Intruder at least is around to give me a grocery store fix. And is it well worth it.

10% achieved thus far. Yay.

Spoiler for LIST:
1) Tusk
2) Scream
3) Scream 2
4) Scream 3
5) Scream 4
6) Jeepers Creepers
7) The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh
8) Blade
9) Blade II
10) Cabin Fever

Watched "Hold the Dark" on Netflix last night and what a proper strange film, still don't really get how or why. Not sure if me being brain dead or the lack of explanation in the film.

You can always try Massacre on Aisle 12. I wouldn't hold my breath on it being any good, though.
