TV Thread finally renewed whew Season 3

It took a few years to renew the TV Thread.

So I guess this counts as a revival?

HBO back in the saddle again btw.

RENEW RENEW RENEW

(nothing like a movie reference to start off the TV thread)

Watching Burn Notice after years of periodically seeing episodes, but not in order. Almost finished w/season 2, it's great. Such a glorious capsule piece of latter 2000's style. It's like a bunch of B-level action/spy movie ideas that were passed on, put into a TV series. Manages to come off at times as a living Grand Theft Auto w/the different missions/clients per episode. Love that. Not to mention, we get loads and loads of BRUCE CAMPBELL. Overall so much addictive fun to watch. Glad I've waited to the point where I can cram on Netflix no prob, instead of having to wait weeks for a new episode. It's totally made to slam one after another.

Just watched the two available episodes of Star Trek Discovery on Netflix. Seems pretty good so far, I actually liked Star Trek a lot more than Star Wars growing up and it is nice to see a new Star Trek series with a cinematic facelift. The production quality is all over the place but this is the best Star Trek has every looked outside of the movies and while the show is very exposition heavy, I suppose to use this as an introduction point for new viewers, it actually hasn’t really hurt the pace or storytelling yet. If anything, it almost moves too fast.

It actually makes me want to go back and watch some old Star Trek again, what should I rewatch bearing in mind I haven’t watched any for years. The Original? Deep Space Nine? Next Generation? Enterprise? Something else?

The first ep of that Big Mouth show on Netflix made me "XD" as the kids say. It's very unflinching but I also feel it doesn't go too far out of its way to be gross, but I still have 9 eps to go so we'll see.

Dude, I LOVE Burn Notice. I literally have all 7 seasons on DVD. I love how ever episode they would balance Micahel's personal mission to find who burned him and helping civilians. The action could be hit or miss but the story and characters were great with each other and there was a lot of good comedy as well.

It's all a great blend. The frequent running gags especially are well done. Michael and his dependency on yogurt. Got to help this guy out, extort a criminal, buy some yogurt.

I already want to score the box set w/o even finishing it. Confident this should hold up the whole way through.

I really enjoyed Star Trek: Discovery. I had no expectations because of things I'd heard about the troubled production. I also normally don't like CBS's creative decisions. But Discovery was borderline great.

I'd go original series. To me Kirk, Spock, and Bones have the best dynamic and chemistry. Original and Deep Space Nine are my favorites. Next Generation is good though. There's also Voyager. Never was a fan of Voyager. I also thought Enterprise was trash.

I started watching TNG as I've seen TOS loads of times but wow, the opening two parter of TNG is bad... like really bad. The production qualities aren't so bad when you consider its a thirty year old genre TV production but basically everything else is borderline horrible. Such a far cry from TOS which out of the gate had such compelling (if a little on the nose at times) narratives and characters so fascinating. I feel like I might actually finish TOS again and then skip to Deep Space Nine. Have no real interest in watching Voyager again (only seen it the once when I was a kid), only reason I suggested Enterprise is I'm not sure I have ever actually finished it.

Skip to season 3 of TNG. Thats when it gets good. There are really only 2 episodes of season 2 you would ever need to watch, Measure of a Man and Q Who
