Re: TV Thread finally renewed whew Season 3

Penny Dreadful(Season 1 last few episodes and maybe season 2 over the weekend)
Rosemary's Baby
Lucifer(later on and probably during the weekend as well)

After I watch all the above and no real life shit gets in the way I might see a bit of the show Grimm(Season 1, saw only bits and pieces of the show but never got into back when it first started so maybe its time for a second chance.)

Re: TV Thread finally renewed whew Season 3

Watched all of the first season of Ozark over the last few days. Really enjoyed seeing straight man Jason Bateman trying to keep his family together during a legally precarious financial situation. It all felt very familiar yet also different.

A lot of great performances in this show. Marty and Ruth were my favorite characters.

Overall the writing was just smart, clever, suspenseful and even the few moments of humor landed pretty well with me. I don't really have anything negative to say about the show.

The flashback episode was dreadful, boring, plodding nonsense that added too little to the show to warrant the time spent though IMO. I will say that.

I thought I was going to hate the flashback episode when it started but it turned out to be ok. I didn't love it though and I don't think it added much we didn't already know.

I really liked Ruth too, and thought Julie Garner stole the show. I know this is a common opinion for people that watch Ozark, but I'm totally on board the Julie Garner train all the same.

Re: TV Thread finally renewed whew Season 3

3% is not a show people should miss. Highly recommended.

Why? Because it's a true old-school dystopia which is extremely rare these days. There's no current/modern ideology that hasn't been critiqued in the show from big brother to corruption within big brother to "freedom fighting" to corruption within the freedom fighters. No one is pure evil and no one is pure good. It is incredibly satisfying from that perspective. Modern dystopia's fall into the binary so hard that they do not reflect upon the true human condition where despite all our desires to create utopias we end up creating flawed realities that are based upon our own very human flaws.

The world that they've built while simpler than other dystopias works because it's closer in the future and therefore much more believable than other dystopias I've seen. This is some of the best science fiction I've seen in a while.

The show is easily an 8.5/10 for me. Highly recommended. (It's also a short show so investing in it doesn't require hours upon hours of viewing. It's like doing a trilogy marathon and can be done inside a day. Don't skip it).

Just go this episode of Steven Universe. My Mum died when I was sixteen. This fucking show man. If this isn't the greatest cartoon ever made I don't know what is. I can't help but hold my emotion in but I got to this and I did a long, snotty, cry and now my head is pounding but I feel like I only love this show more for it.

@Obfuscation is that a reference to American Pie?

Also just watched ep 5 of big mouth. This show is so relatable in some ways it scares me.

Re: TV Thread finally renewed whew Season 3

Watched this weeks Discovery. Why are Netflix originals always so noisy? They must use some really cheap cameras with their shows or do way too much artificial processing in post.

Another good episode though, the effects are as wonky as the science but the characters and storytelling so far have been as good as Trek gets.

(Bill) Goldberg appeared on The Goldbergs.

Kinda baffles me as to why they don't get an 80's wrestler like Hogan or Flair to appear on the show.
