I think the first one is a genuine surprise. It's a fairly decent action movie most people expected nothing out of. The choreography's pretty good in all of them but they really dip into absurdity more and more after that.

Keanu doesn't talk much though and when he does it's just low muttering. I really noticed in Chapter 3 how hard he struggles just to deliver basic lines but he barely speaks so you kinda don't notice it unless you're looking for it.

But that was the point since John was on a time crunch and everyone was trying to kill him.

So he was like, oh I need your help, well I can't help you because you are blacklisted well you owe me, fine, then GTFO before you get me killed.

That totally make sense why it was done that way, it was done that way to make you feel a sense of urgency

You have Sofia reacting in such a way that doesn't make sense with the character that they just established because they wanted to set up an action scene.

An adjudicator, who gets treated like a joke by everybody she runs across. Which makes no sense given who she represents.

A main bad guy acting like a fan boy, which I guess is supposed to be funny?

And scenes thrown in for no reason. Id love to hear what the point of Anjelica Houston's second scene was.

And that's with me ignoring the glaring plot conveniences that I didn't bring up.

Tomorrow night cannot get here fast enough. I'm going to time it to watch the first 2 and have the 2nd end right when it is time to leave for the theater.

3 John Wick movies in a row.

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (May 17, 2019)

If I were to have one or two nitpicks;

Spoiler for spoiler:
The part in the desert in the second act where Wick goes to see the main man of the high table. He goes through all of that, agrees to do what they ask (kill poor old Ian McShane), cut his own finger off. Just to pretty much reverse his decision as soon as he leaves the desert.

I'm pretty much ok with the ending. Although McShane shooting him and prob just expecting him to survive seemed a tad far. At first, I thought he may have used blanks. Also, the way Wick pinballed off the roof made me smirk. But that's the video game world they've created, so I can prob look past that.

The ending also sets up an Avengers Assemble get together in the 4th movie to finally take down the high table.

Truly awesome movie though and these issues won't stop me from enjoying it over and over again.

Re: John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (May 17, 2019)

What an awesome flick...:

Spoiler for Funstuffinside:
Start to finish the adrenaline and suspense remained and had me soooo hooked.

I have some trouble deciding which scene was the coolest one: Either the entire horse action or the bike/sword scene.

Halle Berry delivered.

And about the desert scene specifically I wonder if the inspiration comes straight from Uncharted 3? The similarities once John entered the desert was quite accurately on point.

Loved the Bruce Lee-themed references and the Matrix ones.
