Okay that was a pretty weird episode of The Orville . In a good way. Really loved the deconstruction of labels in this episode. I guess in a future set 500 years in the future. Labels like Gay and Straight don't really apply. OF course Ed and Kelly were kinda under a spell. But the comedic plays in this show are just absolutely flawless. I got to say this show is more Star Trek then Star Trek is. When LT. Gordon was like "It's like Ed is into him". And Issac was like "What do you mean into him, is he inside him?". And LT. Alara was like "He well be soon" . And it was pretty funny when Kelly and ED were in the elevator. And that Krill kept showing up. Just go away . Things resolved pretty nicely at the end of the episode. The plot was really focused around the breakdown of Ed and Kelly's Marrage. So I liked the insight their. But once again with this show. So refreshing to see such a fun, uplifting show in this genre.

I don't know if its god. Id say no since its creator is an atheist. Though it is good.

Pretty good synopsis of this episode. I spent a good amount of time watching it like "wtf is this lol" but not in a bad way. I was kind of wondering if the show is going to head towards some kind of reconciliation between Ed and Kelly, and this may have opened a door for that in an unexpected way.

And I am going to hold out hope that eventually we will get to hear Bortus do his song at another karaoke night.

Re: The Orville

Just watched the latest episode. Another great episode. Thoughts

This Si Fi is continuing to be my fav Sci Fi show right now. IT has its own little niche in the pool of Dark and Edgy Sci Fi's.

I am really loving the character of Alara. They really seem to in the first season focusing on alot of character development. She is the third character that has had alot of focus on he character. I really like that. Because I prefer when it comes to shows I really like. Not to just be background noise. But invest in the characters. Bortus is another one I really love. His last line "I am a little self concious, can I leave". Got a few laughs from my Parents lol.

I see critics are commenting on how Orville and Discovery are doing "Trek" very diffrently. And got to say watching both. I Think I prefer the Orville. Discovery is a bit more dark and edgy. Orville is pure Star Trek for me. Some of the absurdities. The Clowns, Bugs e.t.c. Were all very effective. And compelling. Like in the original Star Treks where they visited other planets, other spiecies e.t.c. Obviousley this whole episode was a whole Simulation. Which did not dawn on me until it was showed at the end hahaha. Anyway looking forward to Season 2. This show has been a big surprise. So be interesting how it develops next season.

Re: The Orville

I like that this show pushes itself and is not afraid to take chances so far. The last couple episodes seemed risky to me in a new show trying to gain viewers in its first season. There were episodes early that took on serious social issues, and then there were these two that at first felt a little silly but ended up being good for character and story development

Re: The Orville

Just saw this today while poking around on YouTube. I normally don't pay much attention to Steve Shives, but occasionally he manages to make a well thought out, objective take on something in one of his videos. This is one of those rare occasions. It was made a couple months ago before the first season ended, and I felt that his praises and criticisms of the show were pretty fair.
