Re: Joker (October 4, 2019)

[QUOTE=Berzerker's Beard;77724576]a whole bunch of other stuff too. AFAIK no other version of batman recieved his jedi training from ra's al ghul. bane was also drastically different from any other version.

Indirectly he did in the comics. David Cain (members of League of Assassins) trained him. While Ra's never did train Bruce, Bruce did receive training from a member of the LOA. Ducard (who Ras pretended to be) also trained him and showed him brutality. So in their own way, they did honor that from the comics.

Check out the pilot for my webshow WISHFUL THINKING. It is a show about a college student who fucks up his day and a Genie grants him the opportunity to do it all over again and he finds new and creative ways to fuck it up even more.

Watch Episode 2 of WISHFUL THINKING
The Test: Rob gets caught cheating on a test and has a chance to go back and do it again

Watch Episode 3 of WISHFUL THINKING.
The Date: Rob tries not to fuck up a hot date and does it anyways.

Watch Episode 4 of WISHFUL THINKING.
The Poker Game: Rob tries to win some money at Poker and is terrible at it.

If your decision to go see a movie is predicated on whether or not the people making it like Donald Trump, you might as well just never see a movie for the rest of your life.

Re: Joker (October 4, 2019)

At the risk of my good pal Kratos coming after me with a pencil in the eye, I'm not a big superhero/supervillain guy. So, I had no intention of seeing this. However, I saw the trailer yesterday and I was drawn in right away, and now I have to see how this works out.

Hopefully it turns out better than It Chapter 2.

I will say that the more I see from this, the more happy with it I am, so hopefully Joker lives up.

Re: Joker (October 4, 2019)

Todd Phillips’ dark supervillain origin story “Joker” has come up trumps at the Venice Film Festival, taking the Golden Lion from a jury headed by Argentine auteur Lucrecia Martel. Controversial veteran Roman Polanski, meanwhile, took the runner-up Grand Jury Prize for his film “An Officer and a Spy,” capping a festival marked by debate over gender representation and the impact of #MeToo in the industry.

Whether the film achieves critical consensus or not, the top prize in Venice validates the artistic legitimacy of an unusual commercial-prestige crossover item, and will significantly bolster “Joker’s” awards-season strategy. Phillips’ film, with its dynamic star turn by Joaquin Phoenix, will be looking to emulate the last two Golden Lion winners — Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water” and Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” — which were both nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, with the former winning and the latter widely perceived as a close runner-up.
Glad WB let Joker compete at Venice. It's wise to get the word out before these WOKE bloggers try to use this movie to draw attention to themselves.

I agree. The Last Jedi got positive reviews by critics before it officially hit theaters, where some were claiming it was a "masterpiece" and that it was the best Star Wars movie to date. As a huge Star Wars nerd I got excited hearing those reviews, but when I saw the movie for the first time, I about walked out of the movie theater. Worst Star Wars movie of all time and one of the worst movies I have seen in my entire life.

I wish I could unsee it and delete it from my memories.

The first time I've seen film critics visibly SHOOK as they review a movie.
