Re: Joker

Another thing I appreciated about this movie is that it is the first time in a long time where a movie would make a decision that would make me go "huh?" but then win me over with it as the scene or the rest of the movie played out.

A great example was the choice of the Gary Glitter song for his big dance down the stairs in full Joker garb. At first, it was such a jarring song choice that went against everything else in the film, and it caught me off guard, but as the scene played out, eventually I was like "You know what? This fucking works". Not only is he celebrating that he's finally embraced who he is, but the stylistic clash with all the other songs in the movie actually showed that Arthur was no longer playing by the rules of the world and was going to do things his way, and in its own weird way, the song fit because it doesn't fit, if that makes any sense.

Re: Joker

Happy to report that I finally saw Joker and I loved it. I had an unpeaceful uneasy feeling throughout which I appreciated because it means I was actually invested in the film. I shall def. be purchasing the Blu-Ray of this. It is quite possibly my favorite comic book movie ever.

Re: Joker

I read Joker is the most profitable comic book movie of all time now. I got so much respect for the producers of this thing. Sup Emma Tillinger, Todd Phillips and Bradley Cooper.

A rated R movie about a villain is the most profitable. The copycats to this are going to be embarrassing. This really partially points to how inflated the budgets are for these movies. I realize they have to cost at least so much because they should be visual spectacles, but I'm sure they're wasting money here and there too.

Joaquin phoenix is beautiful.
My favorite scene was "Hey Arthur, Youre a really good Dancer."

He fucking is. Very hot.

The money was always there with Deadpool and Logan, FOX could have made a killing doing rated R comic films.

If WB and DC are smart they'll do the same, make good R rated films and bring in money from an untapped source. We need something other than the standard marvel formula.
